Ranieri Pleased With Tiago's Improvements
Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri applauded midfielder Tiago Mendes for the improvements he has shown recently and hopes that the player can be an important element in his side's final part of the season. There are 10 matchdays left before the end of the season, including tonight's clash against Empoli, and Ranieri will be hoping to hold on to the lead over fifth place Milan in the race for a Champions League spot.

"We are heading into the last curve and we will then see the final straight," declared the former Chelsea coach. "We want to improve and I'm working to give my best.

"There is a will to reach the target and to improve," he continued. "But tonight, Empoli will fight with a dagger between their teeth and will battle for every ball."

Finally the Bianconeri's coach then hailed Tiago for his improvements in recent weeks after a very poor start to the season.

"Tiago is improving. He has become more consistent and more determined. This obviously pleases us.

"There is a wonderful group who is helping him and this plays an important role," concluded Ranieri.

I suppose this means we might see him play against Empoli later today?

lol at Sali :p

I feel sorry for Tiago. We shouldnt forget that he was great at Chelsea and Lyon. He even was a starter for Chelsea. I think Ranieri should try a Sissoko-Tiago central midfield with Tiago in a bit more attacking role. I know Zanetti is one of our best players, but he hasnt looked impressive since Sissoko arrived.

Juve To Swap Tiago For Maxi?

Juventus and Atletico Madrid could be set to swap Tiago Mendes and Maxi Rodriguez, according to Tuttosport.

Tiago only signed for Juve from Lyon last summer in a €13m deal, however he has been a huge flop in the Italian league.

The Bianconeri tried desperately to offload him during the January transfer window, but were disappointed when the player rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Atletico Madrid were also linked with a transfer during that time, and many people believe that Tiago turned down Spurs because he was holding out for a move to the Spanish capital.

Tuttosport says that Atletico have now contacted Juventus again about doing a deal this summer.

Representatives from the Spanish Liga club have met with their Juve counterparts for initial talks. During these discussions Juve have asked for Argentine attacking midfielder Maxi Rodriguez.

The 27-year-old, who holds Italian citizenship, is most famous for scoring probably the best goal at World Cup 2006. The flying winger has flair and trickery, something Juve have been sorely missing this season.

Yeah, Zlatan's question proves that Zoran Ban deserved his place in the starting XI :)
He was actually considered to be a great talent back in the early 90's and he was just a kid when we bought him.
He was the first ex-Yu player that signed with Juve (or the first Croatian ?).
Top flop he turned out to be :D

yes. he came from belgian league i think :D
I think he came directly from Croatia, from Rijeka.
Beh, what can you expect from someone who comes from the same city as Ikoninhosa !
