Di Canio-Lotito row goes to court
Sunday 24 September, 2006
The rapport between Paolo Di Canio and Lazio President Claudio Lotito has deteriorated further with the two men suing each other.

The player, who did not have his contract renewed this summer and joined Serie C outfit Cisco Roma, has appealed to the Lega Calcio for unpaid wages.

Di Canio claims the club owes him the pay packet from May and June 2006, totalling around £26,000.

However, in response Lotito has started his own legal action against Di Canio for the money he had to pay in fines last season.

The fiery former Juventus, Milan, Napoli and West Ham United star regularly got into trouble with the authorities for using a Fascist ‘Roman salute’ towards the Lazio fans.

The Biancocelesti President is also suing Di Canio for £4,000 – the value of 250 team jerseys with his Number 9 on that the player gave to friends as gifts.

Lotito and Di Canio have long criticised each other publicly, but their animosity threatens to spill out into the courtroom.
