Bastos should be what Pepe was meant to be, a squad player.
Ok I have to defend the guy who said "No player can turn down the Juventus shirt."

Top 20 IMScouting Players-To-Watch - Part III

7) Michel Bastos , 26, Lyon and Brazil, estimated market value: €15M-20M

The attacking left-sided player moved from Lille to Lyon for €18 million soon after our Player-to-Watch evaluation in December 2008.

And the Brazilian has certainly proved his worth.

Although a relatively late developer, we saw the tremendous potential of Bastos' speed, technique, crossing and particularly his powerful left-foot shot.

And Bastos has come on in leaps and bounds since. He scored 13 goals from midfield in his first season at Lyon, and established himself in the Brazil side, usually playing at left-back for the national team.

He gave a solid account of himself at the World Cup, and was one of Brazil's better performers as Dunga's men crashed out of the competition at the quarter-final stages.

This art is from a year ago, and iirc he suffered a major injury since? I'm fine with you guys saying he's worth far less than whatever, but "squad player", "Pepe"?

I'm not saying I want him, he did awful for Inter and I don't think he'd do well with us but I'm just wondering if he ever got picked up by a team yet?

This is why I plug for Michel Bastos:

Aguero signed an improved deal at Madrid following the £30 million January offer from Harry Redknapp; however the striker is becoming increasingly eager to play regular Champions League football despite winning the Europa League last term.

Chelsea also look set to continue their big spending following their £72 million outlay on Fernando Torres and David Luiz in January, with the Daily Mail yesterday claiming the Russian oligarch intends to spend £80 million on further strengthening his richly assembled squad.

I don't pretend to know the market at all, which is why I'm so clueless on current values, I only ever look at guys we are actually looking at, that would actually come here, and monies are only meaningful to me relative to what we are paying/have paid guys. And I don't see names on that list better than Michel Bastos. In fact I don't even see that list, it's just this guy lol, like Krasic last year. Even Sissoko said Liverpool are a bigger club than us right? I'm impressed by the knowledge that you guys have of everyone in UEFA but you guys are just teases, just get my hopes up and leave me disappointed and disillusioned. Like Sahin, who you guys raved about, no doubt justifiably, but he didn't come here did he? He never was gonna was he? Anyway back to Michel Bastos. Did you know he said "No one can turn down a Juventus shirt"? He looks a little bit like Robinho too, maybe they share some genes.
