A co-ownership sale of Marchionni isn't a bad gamble.

His other half may well be worth more than 2.5m if he has a good season with Fiorentina. It certainly isn't worth more than that right now.

Maybe, just maybe, Fiorentina were the only team seriously interested, and 2.5m for half of his contract was their final offer. Take it or leave it. It's certainly better than keeping him here another season.

This idea that we cap a players sale price is ridicolous. Oher teams dictate what we can get for him. If Secco set a 10m price, it would have done nothing more than scare any interest away.

And now Marchionni's agent say that is not true

Marchionni is on relatively low wages (1 million per year) so the wages won't make a problem to sell him. He is still more than good enough player for teams from the lower part of the table, even for the mid-table teams, and i'm 100% sure that we won't have problems finding a buyer for him.

Realx, even if Fiorentina isn't buying him, someone will.

"Fiorentina have just about signed 50 per cent of Juventus winger Marco Marchionni, according to the Italian Press.

The 28-year-old former Parma starlet was rumoured to be part of a swap deal for Manuel Pasqual.

However, it seems Juventus will receive £2.5m for Marchionni and nothing else.

Meanwhile, Fiorentina are still waiting for a reply from Real Madrid to see if their bid for Royston Drenthe has been successful.

The Viola expect the deal to be put to bed at the beginning of next week.

When Secco will learn NOT to make deals with Fiorentina??
Why does he always picks them to do that??

5mil, plus his salary 6, is not quite a bad deal.
Too bad we couldnt take all that sum right away and use it to get smth useful...
I m pleased with the one who made the call to sell him, but not with the way it happened. But we all know how much Secco sucks at selling.

He is better at trading though and we might his half in the future for that
(but that would mean dealing with Fiorentina again:shifty: )

Spot on!

He is definitely a good enough player for mid table teams.
Hell, I always thought he was even good enough for a top team & I was very pleased when we signed him a couple of years ago.
Too bad he never delivered what I expected.
