I was absolutely shocked to see this, my first reaction was "what the Fk? DD deserves better treatment than this!"

But having thought things over, I think there are somethings that Juve need from a coach next year:

1. Name status:
Many players look to the club's coaches to determine whether they want in or not. Considering we have no other prestiguos competitions aside Serie A, not many great players would want to join US. It might be unfair to DD but thats how things operate.
Keeping a hold of Buffon would be significantly easier with Lippi on board.

Honestly Lippi's name is the only one on my mind to replace DD. He is WC winning coach who decided to decline(I assume) many offers to jump back with Juve (was this the plan all along?). His name would attract great players.

2. Experience
DD has got to the CL finals, has coached in France and in Serie B. Our directors want some stability at the club, they have the financial resources to acquire what they need such as players.
But they want to make sure they don't invest in nothing, they might be looking to secure a coach who has the credentials to make a competitive Juve. Juve certainly has the money to hire such a coach.

With only those two logic at the momment that I can think of, it does make sense, I mean, I can understand it. Although I feel very sorry for DD.

Lets just see if this is true.

As I mentioned on 19/5/07 after the Arezzo win:-

There is speculation in Piemonte that if Juventus get their promotion today, Didier Deschamps may resign - job done.

I'm pretty sure that the new coach will be named in the next 28 days. Something tells me that Lippi may take over the reins for a one season stint. Mere specualtion mind..... Nevertheless I think DD is now toast.

If he has resigned - and I'm sure he will take the Olympic Lyonnais job on Monday - the same source in Piemonte tells me that Lippi will be given the role foe one season to 'steady the ship' and take the club forward with world class signings.

I have no doubt personally now that DD was hired to do the promotion job and that was the extent of his appointment.

We can expect an announcement in the next 48 hours concerning a successor. I very much expect Lippi to be in place.
wow so soon...does your source have any idea who will be after Lippi...

So... this will mean Secco will be Lippi's boss:) hahaha
Bollocks. We don't need Lippi back and that is the fact. It beats me why people can't learn to look ahead. Lippi's the past simple and short. I hate any form of ingratitude.

its sad that dd resign. well, i think the management will have their reason for not extending his contract. maybe the only way to keep buffon was to bring lippi to turin.

to some people here, you said.. if capello back to juve and you won't support juve until he's gone? well, can i ask u a qsn? are u a true juventini? true fans won't leave the club. =)

I also agree. Gigi has a big role in this game. It is almost like what happened to Carlo Ancellotti when he was replaced by Lippi!
We can't change the coach just to fit the goalkeeper. That's really absurd. If the goalkeeper sees himself bigger than all the existent players and coach, then he can find himself a better place in another club.

how official is this?
Not official at all.

It's not like if we were born with "Juve" written on our forehead, so it's a normal thing to adapt to the behaviour of the club. If the management doesn't appreciate those who did their best for the club, then you have to think twice before continuing being on the same boat with such management.
