Then there will always be something else to fight about in life because the human race is simply confrontational. All religions could live together if imbecilic extremists with anything but religion on their minds would just be exterminated. Live and let live FFS.
You have a president who wants to go on a crusade. It's not about some imbecilic extremists ;).

Don't use the Da Vinci Code as a source of knowledge. Some of the contents are true, some are less true, and some are blatant lies, so the best thing you can do is to read it as fiction, and after that buy a history book on the subject instead.

The totalitarian attitude of many Christians never fails to surprises me though. It's the 21th century and they still don't understand religion is something individual. Not everything can be adapted to their liking.

It is a nice book to read, but a disappointing movie.

It is a book of fiction which is interesting to read with the factor of suspense and mystery that wants to make you finish reading the book. Dan Brown did a great job on that.

Anyway, I can't see it de-stablishing my faith in Christianity.

Etymology of graal

The word graal, as it is earliest spelled, appears to be an Old French adaptation of

the Latin gradalis,

meaning a dish brought to the table in different stages of a meal.

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia, after the cycle of Grail romances was well established, late medieval writers came up with a false etymology for sangreal an alternate name for "Holy Grail". In Old French, san graal or san greal means "Holy Grail" and sang real means "royal blood"; later writers played on this pun

All I am going to say on this issue is that many of the different things he talks about in the book are true, but they are not as inter-related as he makes them out to be.

So yes there are:

The Knights Templar
Opus Dei
The Priory of Sion

BUT, Da Vinci was not a grandmaster of the Priory.........

So the title is even out of whack, but I hope that it is all true so that all these Jesus freaks can just shut up. How funny it would be if the world came tumbleing down because we found out Jesus was fucking, OHH NO, he was human after all, you wank-spanks.

i believe the da vinci code as much as the bible. none of them should be taken seriosly
Seriously, the Bible was constructed from hundreds of different letters and books almost 3 centuries after Christ died. It was assembled by the Roman Emperor..................ummmmmm......Constantine??? No, that's not right, but that is true about the group of Christian leaders choosing which books and letters went in the Bible, and which were excluded.

I also understand that the ones which were excluded were the ones that showed Jesus in his true form, a regular human being, and not the divine son of the God.

The Bible is actually a fantastic book. It's a collection of stories that appeal to the imagination and follow all the right protocols that writers in that day and age were bound by.

The problem is that at some point, somebody decided to assume it was all true.

God save my great great grand children hundreds of years from now when somebody decides to channel a ton of blind faith towards a Stephen King novel...

I would rather drop dome on you than declare this true.

Just saying, it met all the standards of the age it was written in.

If somebody wrote a book like that today, it would be trashed by the first editor who got his hands on it of course.

My recomendation to the people that are reading the book is, that first read a book that "explain" you the Davinci Code first, the book that Brown write say alot of stuff that is not in Davinci's code.

Also before read it, remember that this are just theory, not facts, that is the most important thing.

this is very good comment from an atheist, I mean it.

Bible is really a great book, Some people here think that I am a hardcore Christian, am not even a Christian (I mean I don't practice the religion).

But I love Bible, I read it 3 or 4 times in my life, there are great messages out there, I don't take them as orders at all, but as a philosophy. I just hate it, when Idiots, call themselves "Atheists', make fun of the bible. because that's not an Atheist, that's Anti-christ or Anti-christian. For me I don't care if there is God or no, If Jesus was this or that, If what people are discussing is true or not, but I still believe Bible is a great book, and people should take the good examples from there to their life..

Those two aren't intertwined, though. You don't have to believe in God to recognise the Bible's literary value.

You're attacking me over grammar?

1: I understand that and agree, I was just stating that I am both of those.

2: No, not in the slightest, I was just stating that the Bible was not written in an "age" which i took to mean a small amount of time, I wanted to say that it was written over hundreds of years, or many ages.

That is all. Erik, you know I love you and would never talk bad about you.
