Rovella with the equalizer on a penalty, gave the pass to Parisi too (who won the pk).

Sweden lucky with an own goal and nothing else since. Should have just had a player sent off too.

Nicolato with a lineup to control the match, and they have, but not a very exciting choice of players.

Sweden getting hammered and now down to 10 men. Gaetano among others should have scored. So many shots to likely finish 1-1.

On better news than the senior team, the U21 did very well. 8-2 agg in these three matches and the 1-1 vs Sweden was absurd in that we didn't score more.

The team faces similar issues with scoring as the senior team but otherwise look very solid and qualified to the euros next year in style.

Rovella was the stand out performer imo. Great in every match as left mezzala in a 352. Wears the 10. Ricci is the regista and the captain of this team as he has usually been in the youth teams. He plays with a calm and experience way above youth football. Rovella on the other hand gets to be his most creative self in this setup and is great at it.

It's been a while since the fullbacks have been this exciting (for youth level). Parisi and Cambiaso were both great. Very attacking pair, lots of dribbling, runs, and flicks. Particularly Parisi is a live wire. Plays like he cannot wait to to create danger in the opponents box (next Spinazzola?). Hopefully these two translate it to top level. Cambiaso looks more ready, Parisi did ok this season in Serie A, but at least they are already playing regularly in A. Would be good to have creative players at fullbacks in the senior team.

The CBs and Carnesecchi were all good, did their job and cleaned everything up before too much could happen. Weren't overly tested, looked confident and comfortable.

The attack still has a hard time finishing even if they scored 8 goals in 3 matches. The Sweden match exposed that problem like nothing else. Pellegri has the classic CF instincts but isn't anything spectacular (next Pinamonti?). Cambiaghi was great, interesting and tricky player, did everything in attack but it takes a lot more to do it at top level, lets see him as he grows. Gaetano, Vignato, Colombo, Esposito (who just made the jump to this level), are all exciting but none has taken the step and locked the position.

Those players are with the U21 who are also playing two matches next week. Udogie should go to the senior team ASAP. Miretti and Rovella are better in the U21 for now though, the midfield is stacked with better players.

Pellegri still that young? Thought he was old by now. What is Esposito doing in Anderlecht? Are we that backwards that he doesn't that time here? Thought he was an interesting prospect, maybe I was wrong.

Alessandro Circati is eligible for Australia as well @JuveJay

He’s better off choosing to play for the Socceroos, given Italy don’t know how to qualify for World Cups anymore :lol3:

I didn't see any of the game and I don't think I need to, the fact they scored 2 after 90 mins suggests another profligate performance with the good old fashioned sucker punch at the end. Could be wrong.

Anyway, it's a championship game, Estonia had to beat teams to qualify for it.

Fagioli, Rovella, and Miretti played together in the second half, I thought Fagioli was the best one. Udogie and Okoli were good as well. Rovella got two yellows.

Contrasting results for the U21 and U19 sides:

That Germany game was played way above friendly tempo, and again more red cards, the U21 seem to get them every game. But definitely looked like a typical U21 game with how the goals went in, very random. Cancellari does look like he will be a good player.

The U19 beat Hungary 7-2, after beating them 3-0 a few days ago. Our Hasa scored two in the first game and Mancini got two today.
