We cant predict how things are gonna pan out next summer. Mandzukic and Cuadrado could possibly be on their way out, we never know. Or maybe someone will bid big for Dybi and Bernie will take his place which would make room for another attacker. We never saw the Higuain departure coming until the last 2-3 months for example.
:yuck: :inter: Serious downgrade. I also don't get this obsession with Chiesa; I don't really see that WC Superstar potential in him. He's solid, but I don't really believe he's that great. I'd rather have Pjaca back if he has a solid season with the Purple Rats.

I think our midfield as it is , is good enough for 90% of our games

It's the 10% of the games, like yesterday, against the likes of RM, Barca or Man City , that have this really quick and slick passing style which slices us open and we lose control that we need one more WC star

P.S. I dont need the snide remarks dissecting each word of my statement or analogies (man city who?, didnt we beat RM and Barca? pre-season bla bla )

Also, as is, we could still win those 10% of games ...but for guarantees , another WC mid would give peace of mind

I think the problem with this narrative is that you expect that getting one player would suddenly fix these problems. I really don't see how it would work that way. You'd still have most of the players who make those mistakes in possession on the field. Defensive issues if there are any don't really depend that much on individual players either, what you do collectively is much more important

What Barca and the likes have in terms of passing isn't a result of one individual. They have trained these things from a very young age. The culture and the way the players are developed as youngsters differs quite a lot. There's a reason countries like Spain constantly develop such players and Italy don't.

I'm definitely not against signing quality players but expectations people have put on that new CM seem quite unrealistic. I'd also argue that Ronaldo is the signing that is supposed to help make us win that last 10% of games. I think he can individually affect our games much more than any midfielder.

"Paul Pogba's Super Agent Speaking To Barcelona To Force Deal"

"Agent Mino Raiola has reassured Barcelona that he will get Paul Pogba to move to the Nou Camp"

Looks like our chances of getting pogba are very low now. :shifty:

So the dude who is notorious for his unnecessary dribbles and ball-hogging is going to tiki-taka city :shifty:
Looks like :beppe: long game. Pogba is going to fail there, and after unimpressive mu stunt we are going to get him for pocket change.

One of the biggest problems we had last season was that we had to rely completely on Pjanic to find that pass and none of the other midfielders had the ability to keep or move the ball quickly. The only other midfielder we have who makes us tick is Marchisio, but sadly he's a cripple. Getting Bonucci back this season will fix some of the issues we have playing the ball out. Considering our forward line will be much more mobile now, expect our general play to be better come December with Pjanic and Bonucci dictating a lot of the play.

Sounds like BS regarding Pogba to Barca.
They already have:
Rakitic, Busquets, Vidal, Arthur, Rafinha, Suarez & Gomes.
Even without Gomes who probably will leave.
With Pogba?? Who will be benched? Vidal & Arthur?

Too much CM's imo. And Pogba will be an expensive one.

One thing that am looking forward to is when we get the first goal which btw should be much easier with CR7 and instead of crumbling when the opponents apply pressure Bonucci will be spraying those passeed to CR7 instead. Here's to many 4-0 wins.

Cancelo should also help in this regard.

Don't get me wrong, I dont want tiki taka, that's not our way.

And I get that team work and balance is way more important than everything else.

But since we are in mercato discussion where we an only control the personnel situation, it would give more assurances having a WC mid.

One player wont fix everything, but imagine knowing that you have a midfield general who is a leader and has tons of grinta, someone who can make a difference either side of the field.

Agreed, there arent many players like that available, so I'm not expecting anything.

TBH, past few years I was actually hoping Dybala would embrace the trequartista role like a Zidane or Kaka, and that would give us a lot more edge in midfield battles. Except it looks like he is only suited to be a SS.

As for the latest news;
We could endup not having any of Pogba or SMS

Either
If Modric leave to Inter , Pjanic to Madrid, Pogba to Juve, SMS to United

Or

Pogba to Barca, SMS to ManU , we endup having nothing ...

And Milan for 40 loan with 80 obligation ...for SMS

Come on Beppe ...

I don't think we're planning to bench either Matuidi or Can next season. I highly doubt we're even considering Sergej unless we're shipping Pjanic.
You might be right. It would be a huge mistake, but you might be right.

Our midfield is too weak, and Matuidi is too shit for a CL contending team. That's going to bite us.

I think our midfield is fine. I have a feeling we're yet to see Matuidi in his full form. I can't say it's amazing but imo we've got a very solid midfield. Then there are Marchisio and Bentancur on the bench as well. I'd say our midfield is very, very balanced. And we've got options, that's for sure. And... well... we've got Ronaldo.

Would be amazing to sign Sergej and keep Pjanic but I doubt we're gonna see that happen.

Solid, but far from complete. We have no one who can move the ball in his feet, no one who can penetrate the midfield pressure on his own. It's an important piece to the CHL puzzle.

Either way, much more important to keep Pjanic than to sell any of the other options - one more would just complete the team.

I won't say he's a world beather, but Can can do that, no?
