A player we didn't give up on that easily. The potential was always there imo.
What's done is done obviously. By no means do I think we should even try to get him back.
The thing is tho, he was excelling in small teams like Pescara and such and NEEDED playing time, but at the same time not being good enough for starting minutes for us or any top level side IMO (used to watch Pescara for Verratti, and it was just clear that between him, Verratti and Insigne, he was the only one who truly did not seem like he belongs in a bigger side). He did not strike me as the type to wait around in backup role, as his comments back then indicated, if a hack like Zaza got fed with backup, someone considerably more capable in scoring would been even more so.
So even if I defenitely think we give up on talents too easily too (more for Giovinco for me is a regret development wise), this case was more of best case scenario for both him and us to sell then. It worked out for him (and for us, because the time we sold him we got Morata), since he fits more in midtable counter attacking team, it was a fitting way to get out of the limbo he was in, too good for small sides, but not enough for Juve level then, happy medium in Torino type that built their approach around him. Even if he definitely devloped strongly as overall player in past 2 seasons with Lazio, is not as limited in approach as he used to be.
I mean, I cant particularly blame Juve in this case, Pescara, Siena, Genoa, Torino, Dorthmund, Sevilla AND FINALLY Lazio to show he is consistently close to being a top scorer. Thats his 7th club after leaving our youth team that he got to that point.
