if Ronaldo was free, I'd say giving him like a crazy 40m 1 year contract would be worth it just because of the exposure and to go all in for the cl. But no way in hell would we pay 120m on top of the wages he would demand.
No way in hell it happens, it's crazy. It would be suicidal as a club to do that. 120 million plus 40 million gross for let's say 3 years would cost us over 80 million annually just for one player. That's more than Higuain, Pjanić, Dybala, Costa and Bernardeschi cost us together annually.

On the revenue side can you recoup enough? Like realistically, you could raise ticket prices, and you'd sell more jerseys. But would that pay for him? Dunno.

Like they played 29 home games last year, and generated ~60.4M EUR in gate revenue. That is about 2.1M per game, and ~50 EUR per seat. You could likely raise ticket prices - a 25% increase would generate ~15M EUR in additional revenue. Could you make up the remaining 25M EUR in sponsorship, merchandise, or television right sales? Perhaps...It is hard to know. You would certainly recoup some of that cost in new revenue...He is arguably a top 5 figure in world sports and a marketing gold mine. So perhaps you can pay for his salary...but his transfer fee. Doubtful.
