I don’t get it. People want us to be an “elite club” but don’t want to spend the money on talent to make us one?

If we get Can I'm all for SMS, I might be his biggest fanboy on tuz.
But it looks like Can is not coming and we miss a physically strong CDM/CM more than anything else. And I don't think Benta is ready yet.

Not exactly what I meant. Lazio uses Lucas and Parolo to do dirty work, while SMS with Alberto are free-roaming mids.
Using SMS as a CDM would be a waste, it's like using Pogba there.

Matuidi is our ball winning midfielder SMS is playing in a similar position to what Pogba played for us and Pjanic to stay as the organizer - I see no problem with those trio..

No, he is not, Matuidi is our engine, but he is not a ball winner. He has less successful interceptions and tackles than Khedira. Fucking Kessie beat down Blaise like a dog.

6-7M wages for SMS and 5M for Can, pay rise for Pjanic as well. Not hapening

If Can is not possible, possibly on Nzonzi + Barella. In this case, there is no urgency in Sandro sell.
Nzonzi might be the best possible player(not named Casemiro) for us tbh, he fits in our 4231 like a glove.

My wish list - assuming no major departure.
Needs - Explosive CM, Attacking Midfielder/Winger/Forward (Ideally Right Foot), Goalkeeper, Young CB
Ideas of players that can fit one of these 4 descriptions:
SMS, Verratti, Fabinho, Bonaventura, Koke, Goretzka, Saul, N'Zonzi, Cristante
de Ligt, Caldara, Romagnoli, De Vrij
Martial, Eriksen, Isco, Insigne, Verdi, Willian, Balotelli, Vasquez, Chiesa
Perin

I really want to see Verdi given a chance at a bigger club. He'll probably go to Napoli though because he'll start there.

Nzonzi isnt bad but he is quite static and thats what bothering me with him..
I rather get us players who can take us to the next level SMS is clearly that

Nzonzi is a fucking wall, he doesn't run like Blaise of course, but he sure as hell covers a middle.
Dude singlehandedly disrupts opposition midfield on a daily basis. He is strong and big defensive beast, and an underappreciated passer.
Imagine that Pjanic has almost no defensive duties and we also don't need to field Matuidi or Mandzu to add muscle power, but can put someone far more creative there (e.g. Costa to the left, Berna to the right).
Even more so, he is pretty old already, but I think his game is going to age good.

like for example, he is no more the only mid we can use to come out of defense via passing under pressue, nzonzi is good at it also, it's impossible to outmuscle him. Yeah, he is going to play it safe, but he gives you a room to breath.

I dont think Can will be here next season but I totally agree with your elite club philosophy - We need to get to the next level and we cant do it without improving the quality of our team which means we need to spend..
We cant spend our budget on 1 player?! why not?! Real did it for years and you could say it paid off..

If you want to make that fantasy team you should at least include Tevez who was our best forward since 1998.. (DP on prime was something special..)

I think you have to do 3 in the back since BBC was legendary. So you need wingbacks. Sandro & Cuadrado probably best. So do you take out Pirlo and put a forward line of Tevez-Higuain-Dybala? or do you take out Pogba and do a midfield 2 with Pirlo & Vidal? Or do you eliminate Dybala for Tevez?

Tough choices...

chelseas payed 45 mln for Danny fucking Drinkwater, mu payed more for Matic (and Nzonzi imo is superior to current Nemanja)
