Thats a fan site summary of his season:

Mario Hermoso

Like Savić, Hermoso is also set for an exit this summer, as he did not accept Atlético’s renewal offer — reported to be at a lower salary than he has been earning since 2019.
Hermoso’s final season in Madrid was his typical mixed bag. The left-footed defender was still Simeone’s best ball-player at the back and led all Atleti defenders in touches per 90. But Hermoso remained vulnerable and unfocused out of possession, making positional mistakes that often negated his on-ball virtues. Napoli are the latest team to be credited with an interest in signing the 28-year-old, but it doesn’t sound like a deal is close. 5.5

I can guarantee he's better than the trash can we have in defense.
Not so sure about it, i’d say they have similarities.

So looks like they tried to lowball him and he declined, i’m still not completely convinced he’d do all that great here(for the wages he is demanding) but i think he is a more than reasonable alternative to consider.

if we want left footed CB then he is probably the best cheap option, but do we really want LCB? Todibo wasnt left footed...

We should fucking sign Koopmeiners today, if he also slips from our hands we are fucked.

Yeah not exactly sure what we even after for the defence this days either, i’d assume we have Gatti and Danillo for the RCB/RB hybrid role plus Bremer who is more natural as RCB, while we only have Cabal as the main LCB/LB hybrid, with both Danilo and Bremer that can cover at LCB too, but then Danilo is also the main and only reliable RB if we plan to fix Cambiaso as main LB.

My guess is that a CB is still needed, more likely someone comfortable at LCB, along with another fullback, or just a versatile player that can cover both roles might do, but needs to be a quality one.

I'm not seeing anything new in the way we're operating in the market.

We had like 3-4 sporting directors in last 5 years and none of them said like: let's focus on the South American market and young talents like Portuguese and some Serie A clubs do. Or: let's stop signing freebies or market opportunities just to patch some holes in the team.

I have to admit that moving some players from Next Gen has been promising though.

We might have been naive while expecting Giuntoli to bring in player like Kvara out of nowhere. At this point he seems no different then Paratici and Cherubini.

Same meltdown on here when we loss Iturbe to Roma, what a piece of dog shit that guy turned out to be. Is Todibo really worth €40million outright? Thats a big chunk of our transfer budget. In addition what kind of money are Westham throwing at the guy? If he goes to Westham it’ll most likely be due to a better salary and not due The transfer fee.
it's not about losing todibo. he would have been a useful addition, left footed too, but he's no nesta or cannavaro. it's about losing a target and not having enough time to find an other one at a similar level. so yeah, he's not a 40m player, i agree, but who are the other quality left footed cb's on the market?

Todibo is right footed.

we got beaten because WestHame ofered salary of 4m, we proposed 2.5m. Their bid to Nice was 40m and 25% on future resale, we proposed 28+2m with out resale and as an option.

Came to say this, we probably need a right-footed one, since leftie was already bought in Cabal

Todibo would have played as LCB in a pairing with Bremer though, it’s not always a rule that the LCB needs to be specifically left footed, it’s about being comfortable in that role.

All the rumors about us needing a new CB was about finding a ball playing quality LCB to pair with Bremer who does not seem to adapt well in that role and is more comfortable as RCB.

Kvara was indeed a one off, you could argue Kim min jaw, although he came from Fenerbahce, the rest of his signings all came from well known clubs, some rejects, top players, or fringe. Spaghetti somehow made it work, it all just seems one off a blue moon stuff. Maybe we overrated him, but then there were no better choices. Sadly there's only one Marotta.

Done Deal! Jean-Clair Todibo to WestHam from OGCNice for €40M + a % on the future sale. Contract until 2029 (€4M/year). WHUFC have overtaken Juventus, which offered a loan (5M) with option to buy (28M + 2M as bonuses) which could become an obligation upon reaching certain conditions and a salary of 2,5M/year until.

This is really sad for us, Serie A and football in general. Players now prefer shiite midtable PL teams who will never play CL. God I hate PL

Some fans still need to take note that we barely have the financial power of the WestHam’s and Tottenham’s of the world, the only thing differentiating us is the appeal and history of the club that could influence the players choices even when we don’t match the bids of others, but ultimately that only matters if we come close to the selling club’s request, which in this case we’ve been very far off from and rightfully so.

“In January, I found out that Juventus wanted to sell me, and I was disappointed by decision of Giuntoli; meanwhile, Motta wanted to keep me. I can’t wait to return to the Stadium to show that I could have done well at Juve.”
