Here are DD's post match comments:
Didier Deschamps has blamed the fans for heckling Juventus and therefore affecting their performance against Treviso.
“Our opponents were very clammed up and didn’t leave us any space to move in,” the Coach explained after the hard-fought 1-0 victory.
“The fact that there weren’t many people in the crowd made the difference. The players were a little scared by the chants that were being heard.”
The supporters turned on the squad following Saturday’s shock 3-1 thrashing at Brescia, but this match will have done little to solve those issues.
It was another disappointing Bianconeri performance, the win only secured by Alessandro Del Piero’s quickly taken free kick for Raffaele Palladino, which caught the Treviso defence off guard.
“I understand that the fans must manifest their displeasure with a situation, but they need to help the players. This is Serie B, not the top flight or the Champions League. There are difficulties every day and it is by no means easy.”
Nonetheless, Juventus have extended their lead at the top of the table to three points after Napoli’s 0-0 draw with Vicenza.
“It was important to win today and I would say this was a very positive day. The defeat to Brescia inevitably left a psychological mark on the squad, but we did better in the second half. Thankfully, the chasing pack don’t always get victories either,” added Deschamps.
The Frenchman made a few changes to his side this afternoon, using players that have been on the sidelines for much of this season.
“Jonathan Zebina has great quality and I moved him to central defence, as he has the experience to lead that section. Giorgio Chiellini pushed very hard down the flank.
“Valeri Bojinov also did well, but I am convinced that Marco Marchionni would have also impressed had he been able to continue. The important thing I take from this match is that I can count on the whole squad.”
