    Pieri sees united Udinese

    Sunday 29 January, 2006

Udinese may be struggling to get back on track, but Mirko Pieri insists the team is behind Serse Cosmi.

“We are fully aware that this is a difficult time for us, but we need patience, humility, hard work and a little bit of luck to emerge from it in one piece,” explained the midfielder.

The Stadio Friuli side has picked up just five points in the last eight rounds and was humiliated 4-1 at home by Roma last week.
Several fans and sections of the Press have called for Cosmi’s head, but the players remain faithful to their Coach.“The locker room atmosphere remains positive and we are all united. I can sense a positive upturn in our fortunes, as we are certainly not lacking in determination. The good football will return soon enough.”

It could be another difficult Sunday afternoon for Udinese, who welcome on-form Fiorentina to the Stadio Friuli.

“We need a brilliant overall performance to stop the Viola, as closing down Luca Toni simply isn’t enough. Having said that, it’s a good place to start.”

Antonio Di Natale looks set to start as a lone striker in a 4-5-1 system already tested in the Coppa Italia midweek, as forwards Simone Pepe, Vincenzo Iaquinta and Paulo Barreto are out injured.

They aired this game on Telemundo this weekend, one of the local free Spanish TV stations. It figures Serie A would get one of its few opportunities to leave an impression with this scoreless wonder... :frown:
