So basically , any 2 on 1 situations where a pass is given is offside then ? I can think of countless examples that completely defy that ; another thing , if it was offside , that one defender was the only pne covering for Trez and apart from him there was obviously no one covering Trezeguet . The linesman was in perfect position and I think he would have easilly spotted the offside had the rule stated that there had to be 2 players covering .

Does anyone happen to have the link to the fifa rules .
We have the football rules in a thread in MIsc Soccer.

The problem is that it's usually the goalkeeper and ONE defender. And because one defender was ahead of Trez, the linesman though everything is all right. But it wasn't because the defender was the last player and thus Trez was offside.

And to the 2 on 1 situations: in those cases, there are 2 players ahead: the last defender and the last goalkeeper, because the goalkeeper counts as a player.

No man, in these situations the guy who made the pass was in front of the other guy. When you pass the ball backwards then it's not an offside even if there are 0 rival players in front of you.
Which makes the linesman incompetent because he doesn't know the rules. As Alen said, in a 2 on 1 situation if the ball is played on or behind the ball line then it is not offside, think Bonera passing to Inzaghi, think Kaka passing to Inzaghi.
Yeah , I know that if the ball is passed back then it's obviously not offside . I never knew two players had to be covering for a through pass though , it's just that I've never really heard of it .

Thank you , that was the answer I was looking for , I didn't count the goalkeeper as a player , now it makes sense . :pint:

Solid game by juventus, didnt waste any more points on weak teams, which is always good, cl is getting closer and closer :p

Ive got to ask about tiagos performance? what did you guys see :p any improvements?

I know most you have lost faith in him, from my personal and humble opinion Ive noticed a steady improvement and I do believe he'll show his worth. Aslong as he starts, especially alongside sissoko

He has been given his chances , I hoped he would have take them better . I think he proved he is a good player , but only just that .

He is a good player indeed, I just feel that alongside sissoko he can work wonders, he really reminds of pirlo hes got that touch in him.

I don't think we can start comparing him to Pirlo just yet but he defintely has that special touch .

sry, pirlo is really way out of tiagos range .... but did u see cigarini ? i think it was him, that made a great long range pass to the right wing, just after entering the field... that is more pirlo'esque ;)
