You're right about being a tactical genius and still losing, but when you are a tactical genius and your team loses it's because they didn't perform well or you were unlucky. Do you remember last year's game against Parma? We led 1-0 but instead of trying to kill off a considerably weaker team with a poor defence we sat back and ended up drawing 1-1. Is that not stupid? Yes it is, and the players didn't sit back because they wanted to, it's because that's what Capello wanted. The Parma match is just one of many examples of that and on some occasions we won but only because of our superior players.

Remeber the Liverpool game? We needed to score. Cap said let's just be patient so that's what the players did and we played like if a goal was bound to come eventually. We started to panic and tried to play long balls into Zlatan? Isn't that a stupid move when Hyypia, Carragher and Biscan are so good in the air? Yes it is. Why didn't Cap use his head and change our tactical approach? Because he isn't that good. He said afterwards that Pool deserved to go through. Hell yeah they did because your team played without purpose, without a game plan.

You want me to comment on Inter? Fine. Why don't they win? Because they don't have a unified group. They don't play like a true team, more like a group of players just sent out on to the pitch. Who would be able to change this? A coach like Capello. Wait, did I just contradict myself? No I didn't. I said that world class teams can win without tactically brilliant coaches, and I stand by that, but because of the number of stars in the side they need someone to organise them. Cap can do that and he does, that's why he's a good manager, he just isn't that great tactically and you don't need to be when your players are as good as his are.

:irritated: what exactly did I do wrong? did I insult Zlatan? I don't think so.

I was just referring to the fact that Zlatan doesn't score enough IMO, and that Del Piero scored 4 in 2 matches.

and no, I'm not "again one of those kids" and Zlatan has done nothing wrong.

anyway, we won, 3 points more!

PS: no har feelings, mate ;)
hey Geof, I bet you didn't see the game, coz if you DID then you'd have every right to tell Zlatan to EAT IT Up!

Coz damn did he miss a sitter!! an abosolute sitter where the goal keeper was already diving towards one direction and Zlatan, all alone, just fed him the ball. :disagree: Man I could've done better!! You should've seen it.

Zlatan needs to spend some time on the bench and :pint: + :smoke:............:faq1:

and no Im not insultin zlatan, Im his fan :D

I dont have the highlights but I can describe it to you..

...................Gk.........

..Zlatan..............Def/Mutu.....Def/Del Piero
..........................................Def

Del Piero brought the ball from the right, played a ball in between defenders to Mutu who back healed it to a FREE Zlatan.

The GK immediately anticipated that Zlatan would shoot to his Right (Zlatan's left) and immediately dived towards that direction. About half a second later Zlatan shoots a weak shot towards that same direction.:agree: instead of shooting it to his right (GK's left) and make the goal keeper fly in the wrong direction.

Afterwards, Zlatan went to his feet and tied his shoes, tried to hide the shame :disagree:

Sorry Z man, don't wanna be pushy but your wit Juve now, we can't afford those misses. luckily we wren't losing. :D

give him a brake it was his first contact with the ball,
if a players enters in the last 2-3minutes, he doesnt enter to score,
he was just too cold,so as Mutu with his first chance...

Ahh, but Mutu's chance was far harder, he was on the run(a tip toe run) bieng chased by defenders and the GK came out..it all happened in a flash, while Zlatan's had ages.

I have seen bad misses of Zlatan in the past. But I know that he has a bad time, I am sure that he will get better, very soon.

Zlatan did a direct hit I think and I believe he thought it was going to be an easy goal. He was probably shocked seeing the goalie caught it. However it's not easy to score after being on the field for one or two minutes and touching the ball once.

My summary of today:

Yawn, that was uneventful.
Not one of our best match this season, by a long shot. Reggina were pretty well set-up defensively, though we should have played better.
We were never going to score more than one goal, with the tempo we played.
We barely pressured the opponents half in the first half and barely came to shots on goal. Positively though, we were good in defence and Reggina had two long-distance shots all match, both wide. Just as things were looking bad, the team comes up with a nice combination, finished by an excellent Del Piero shot. Only fitting Del Piero scored. I just guess that's the team we are. So cynical, frustrating for the opposion(and fans at times), unpenetrable in defence and cheecky upfront. Despite little effort to score, we get the goal.

Second half was pretty much the same as the first half. Thusly I found myself asking for subsitutions, which I had to wait for 'till the 80th minute. Becoming more and more appearant, Capello's problem with making subsitutions. As if he wants the 11 to win, who he originally fielded regardless of the play.
The player we missed today came on for Camoranesi (for the wrong player..), Mutu entered. Mutu was dangerous Immediately, with an excellent counter attack. Mutu's creativty sparked the attack into finally some better offensive play in the last minutes. With Nedved's mediocre play again, Mutu should really start the next game. The game ended with a huge Ibrahimovic miss. I did not like his weak attempt at an excuse, tieing his shoe laces. As if to say, he would scored hadn't it been for his shoe. I guess that's the kind of person he is, always an excuse.

On the players:

Buffon: Untested. A 10 for his panties though.

Zambrotta: Habitable performance. 6.5

Cannavaro: Good performance. 6.5

Thuram: Slightly less impressive than Canna 6.

Balzaretti: The commentator commented on him being our only light point today and the only thing they'll remeber of today's match; "Lanzaretti"(the spelling mistake is was the commentator's). I agree. 6.5+

Camoranesi: Lively. Grew into the match and got and more dangerous. Should've gone for the goal at the end, instead of falling down so easily. Also he should've become more dangerous earlier in the match. Was a little sloppy throughout the match sadly, could've done better today. 6

Emerson: Involved. 6.5

Vieira: Hot and cold performance once again. 6

Nedved: Uncreative and ineffective. It even looked like he did not give his all out there at times. Should've been subbed for Mutu, instead of Camo. Again not his day. 5

Trezeguet: Nothing to contribute really, didn't get enough chances to work with though. Had an assist. 5.5

Del Piero: Man of the match, due to winning goal and some nice individual actions. 7

Hoping on some better play against Chievo.

P.S. I'd like to note how ZhiXin again, wrote a great post.

if a player enters in the last 2-3 minutes and this was a CL game, then I would talk .. he's had too many breaks, let's see where its going...

We simply played better than the prev games (Lazio,Siena,Samp) not that we were that good, But better IMO.

The first half was little bit poor as we couldn't find the net untill Del Piero stroke that amazing piece of shot. However, our first 20min was good after that we started witnessing some bad passes from Vieira and Emerson to Camoranesi and Nedved...They did the defensive work today perfectly, but not to the attack. Specially Vieira and Nedved. Our defence was solid, you gotta like the young Balz.

Second half was way better, we dominated the game but couldn't find the net just like the first half, we wasted lot of chances, we did lot of counter attacks, thanks to our Defenders...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Buffon- Did nothing at all, Reggina's men didn't really test buffon today....No rate.

Zambrotta- His performance was great today, attacking and trying to shoot, giving us his long runs as we used to see him...didn't see him in the 1st half much, his second was good. 6

Thuram- He was Solid, did no mistakes, but then again Reggina's men didn't really put our defenders nor Buffon in a good test....6

Cannavaro- Another Solid performance by the ex-parma man....You feel safe whenever he's there. 6

Balz- I like the kid!!! Though his first half wasn't really that good like his second, in couple of matches as a (Starter) he'll be another Zambrotta in the team. The kid can run, shoots, cover well, gives the team lot of counter attacks...good second half boy. 6.5

Emerson- Really poor first half, not that his second half was better but little bit more acceptable. I don't what was wrong with him, his passes, stamina, in attacking, was really weak...didn't like the our Puma's performance today..5.5

Vieira- Another player to performe poor, when It comes to defending he's there, but then again he's not playing the same way he was in his first 2months with us..Bad passes, bad ball control, should have helped our attackers more today..5

Nedved- Just like Patrick, Pavel is defending in such a great way, however, he's not the player in attack that we used to know, I'm still confident he can change. Should have scored in his second half...5.5

Camoranesi- It was a good move from Capello to subs him, but that should have been early, maybe because I got use to see him giving the assists he was last year or at the beg of the season. He's more trying to dribble and always shooting from outside the range....his second half was little bit better than his first 5.5

Del Piero- MoM, our best player in the game IMO, did score the only goal that gave us the 3points, and what a goal a crucial one. His first 20min in the first half were good, gived trezeguet couple of good passes and not to forget earning fouls, too bad he didn't score a freekick today...His second half was also good, but should have moved faster in the counter attacks...his last combination with Mutu who delivered the ball to Ibra was great. Bravo Ale...7

Trezeguet- Didn't do much, he tried...It shows how hungry he was to score after he failed against Palermo....But however we all know David is the kind of player that doesn't do much but to finish a deadly ball...Too bad today he couldn't do that. But he should try more to open some space for himself...5.5

Mutu and Zlatan- I wont rate them...Mutu did great coming to the pitch, Capello should have done that early in the game....about Zlatan, I don't know how he could miss that chance, maybe It's because he wasnt warm enough. He should know by now how it is to play 3min when you're not warm enough....

Capello- Again I have a problem with his subs....Mutu to enter early thats Inculding Zlatan replacing Trezeguet...and maybe resting Vieira who was somehow poor tonight.
