Lucarelli eyes Juve scalp Sunday 6 November, 2005

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cristiano Lucarelli is confident that Livorno can continue their extraordinary campaign by shocking Juventus at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

“We are not going to Turin with the attitude of a team that is resigned to defeat,” assured the reigning Capocannoniere. “We went to San Siro to face Inter with that approach and were hammered for it.”

Lucarelli was suspended for that 5-0 drubbing in Milan and is eager to bring his passion and belief to his teammates as they take on the Serie A leaders.

“I say we should play open and attacking football. After all, if we lose in Turin then nobody can hold that against us, but a positive result really would be a bonus.”

Livorno are currently in fifth place, but local lad Lucarelli wants to take a major scalp after picking up wins against the mid-table sides.

“In these two top flight seasons, we haven’t really had a prestigious away victory against one of the giants. I think there is everything we need to get a good result in Turin, but then of course we could just concede eight goals instead…”

That's Alessandro Lucarelli, Cristiano's brother.
He has been sold to Reggina I think.

Juventus-Livorno

Stadio Delle Alpi

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus entertain Livorno this weekend with a view to getting their season back on track. The Bianconeri lost their last outing to Milan at the San Siro and, although they still hold a two-point lead at the top of the table, it is imperative that they bounce back against their Tuscan opponents. Roberto Donadoni’s side have been in good form so far this term and are currently performing well above expectation in fifth place.

Juve head into the game with no new injury worries, with long-term absentees Alessandro Birindelli, Gigi Buffon and Jonathon Zebina unlikely to return anytime soon. Coach Fabio Capello may look to recall Alessandro Del Piero after a poor showing by Zlatan Ibrahimovic against Milan, but other than that is likely to be an unchanged side from last weekend.

Livorno’s only injury worry is also a headache for Juventus, as the player in question is Raffaele Palladino – currently on loan at the Amaranto from the Turin club. Nikola Lazetic is likely to step in for the youngster. Last term at the Stadio Delle Alpi, Juventus were 4-2 victors in an entertaining match, but either side would sacrifice entertainment just to take home the three points on this occasion.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus (probable): Chimenti ; Pessotto, Thuram, Cannavaro, Zambrotta; Camoranesi, Emerson, Vieira, Nedved; Trezeguet, Ibrahimovic

Livorno (probable): Amelia; Grandoni, Vargas, Galante; Cesar Prates, Morrone, Passoni, De Ascentis, Coco; Lazetic; Lucarelli

Capello slams 'stupid' Ibra Saturday 5 November, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s red card against Bayern Munich infuriated Fabio Capello and he has warned the Juve star to shape up for Sunday’s clash with Livorno.

“I hope it will be the last stupid thing I’ll have to comment on with regards to Ibrahimovic,” said the Coach of that dismissal. The Swede was shown two yellow cards for petulantly kicking out at opponents in the 2-1 win. He isn't new to such behaviour, earning a three-match ban last season for an off the ball incident with Ivan Cordoba.

“I explained to him that when you are already on a booking, you should avoid giving the referee even the slightest excuse for a second card. I hope it’s the last time we’ll have to discuss this, but I did talk to him and what was said remains between us.”

Juventus chief Moggi discusses red card with Ibrahimovic

Juventus director general Luciano Moggi held talks with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Thursday after his sending off this week against Bayern Munich.
Along with Moggi, Ibra's agent Mino Raiola also sat in on the meeting in which the Swede was informed of the rules at Juve.

"Here, he is playing for Juventus, no longer in Holland," said Moggi. "To leave the team with ten men is not ever good, even if the game fortunately ended in our favour."

Moggi added: "I didn't speak about the player's contract with Mino this time. But I have promised that we will soon. But neither us, nor Zlatan, are in a rush."
