First Half
The game started at a lightning quick pace and Miccoli was unlucky not to open the scoring within the first minute as his effort beat the keeper but was cleared off the line. Roby Baggio's cheeky pass to Caracciolo caught Ferrara and co by surprise in the third minute and the Juventus captain bundled over Caracciolo but thankfully Baggio's poor penalty was easily saved by Buffon. Trezeguet did well to set up Nedved's wonder strike after some good running by Zambrotta and was hard done by the referee's assistant when his perfectly legit goal was disallowed for offside. Brescia then got back into the game and started to control the ball and to dictate the pace and tempo. However, the visitors couldn't make their pressure count and Trezeguet made sure that Juve would go into the dressing room at half time in a comfortable position when he headed home Camoranesi's precise cross.
Second Half
At the dawn of the second half Igor Tudor replaced Camoranesi and Brescia's Filippini had to be stretchered off and Matteo Brighi took over from him. The visitors never really troubled Gigi Buffon's net, mainly because Tudor, Ferrara and Montero were very alert. The Brescia keeper, Saja, thwarted Miccoli's efforts but it didn't matter because Juve were more than content to play at a snail's pace and just wait for the final whistle. Alessandro Birindelli and Enzo Maresca were given short run-outs while David Trezeguet troubled Saja with another powerful header. The game finished with Miccoli's left footed drive being saved by Saja.
