For champions league:

buffon
litchsteiner barzagli bonucci chiellini
vidal pirlo marchisio
giovinco tevez
llorente

1.we still keep our 3 man defence
2. today giovinco was playing quite well on the left and right wing so he goes on the right
3. llorente as our number 9 would terrify any champions league defence... especially real madrid and bayern munich (barcelona don't have a defence)
4. MVP would be the best midfield in the world for me. very balanced and if pirlo get man-marked, bonucci is there to cover his job.
Time for bed.

I didn't read his actual post until now. He says he wants to keep the three man defense, yet his formation is a 4-3-2-1. Not even bothering with the rest.

Sick of hearing this type of bs - no it shouldn't have been. We controlled the match but didn't always threaten goal and were shaky on the counters. Our play is predictable and stale.
Just think about Tevez hitting the posts,Pogba had at least 2 amazing chances and here you are up 4 goals.so no,it wasn't far from happening.
Yeah we had bad shots, maybe most of them, but still created and did enough to score 3-4 goals today.
We are playing better than last year but have run into incredible luck in front of goal. Tevez's double post shot is one in a million. Another ball cleared off the line. Pogba cross bar. Without looking, I'd say our possession and shot totals are all up from last year.

The only thing I'm not encouraged about is our set piece defending. Ogbonna is definitely not a ball-hunter on set pieces, although I like him in most other areas.
Agreed.

Record-breaking stats in Verona triumph

The 35 attempts on goal registered in Sunday afternoon’s win over Verona constitute a record in this season’s top five European leagues.

The Bianconeri’s attacking threat posed in Sunday afternoon’s 2-1 home triumph over Hellas Verona is laid bare by one succinct record-breaking figure: 35 shots on goal.

It is a statistic which takes Juventus to the summit of the leaderboard in the top five European leagues, a position that is also maintained by their 15 shots on target over the course of a dominant display in front of a full house.

While Antonio Conte was quick to admit his charges could have won by a more comprehensive margin, he will be happy with the spirit they showed in immediately reversing Fabrizio Cacciatore’s 36th minute opener - Hellas Verona’s only shot on target all afternoon - as well as their determination to deny the visitors any opportunities to break on the counter.

Further evidence of the Bianconeri’s firm grip on proceedings can be found when glancing at the overall possession figures (62%), passes made in the opposition half (400) and passing accuracy (87.5%).

Focusing on the final third, Gialloblu shotstopper Rafael was forced to endure a difficult afternoon as a ravenous Juventus laid siege to his goal on regular occasions. His main nemesis was Carlos Tevez, who produced a wonderful equaliser on 40 minutes, one of the Argentine’s ten attempts over the course of the afternoon.

Trailing the summer signing from Manchester City on goal attempts were Paul Pogba (eight) and Fernando Llorente (four), with the Spaniard’s persistence fully rewarded when he towered above his marker to put Juventus ahead on his Serie A debut.

Special mention should also go to Leonardo Bonucci, whose influential play in teeing up Tevez for the leveller constituted his third assist of the current campaign.

Elsewhere, another man making his championship debut in the black and white stripes, Angelo Ogbonna, capped off an impressive individual performance by topping the passes completed index ahead of Pogba, Andrea Barzagli and Arturo Vidal.
