Anybody on a high after this match for any reason besides having a good game against a crappy side need to come off of it...we have a whole season ahead of us. Just because this one match was perfect doesn't mean our next 50 will turn out the same way...just because our team selections worked this time doesn't mean they will work next match. Nothing is easy and we will undoubtedly have a bad spell of form, just like last season..question is WHEN will this bad patch afflict us. Probably right when we need top form the most.

As for Ibrahimovic being a symbol of the club I don't know how you come to such a conclusion. Saying Ibrahimovic is the symbol of the club at the moment is an insult to all our other players who have performed better than him thus far this season...which is quite a few.
totally agree andy

Spot on on both accounts.

Just as we shouldn't be too euphoric for a good win over small Empoli, we should NOT make a drama when we will hit bad patch (it's not a matter of if, but of when and usually it's December-January).

And yes Zlatan is not the symbol of Juventus. Right now he might be the most representative but not the symbol yet. When he'll lead Juve like Nedved did in the CL, then he will be recognized as a symbol by fans and non-fans, but before that he's a player like Trez or Thuram or Emerson.

WELL DUUUH! For the first the first part.

Second part is just stupid, So by your rational Del Piero isnt a symbol either since he hasnt even played a match yet.

Being a symbol has nothing to do with how well you have played in the last two matches.

I don't see how one match invalidates everything that Stuart said. So we beat Empoli by a wide margin, does that mean he's wrong in everything he said?
he was complaining about why dp doesnt play, while he is injured

he was complaining that we gonna play a boring 1:0 (if we are lucky) while we swept the floor with empoli.

i just cant stand when people fall in love wih dp and cant see anything else. In fact dp is our biggest problem, he has one of the highest sallary in italy (now just second behind totti) while he is barely able to play two games in a row.

wake up, he is not the player he was.

i have to ask the primitive question: who the fukk you support, dear Stuart (and Stuart likes)? how can you complain about our last serie-a season when juve won the league with the most scored and least conceded goals with a squad undisputably weaker then milan or inter?

how can you bash Capello after achieving this in his first season at juve?

Signing emo, zlatan and cannavaro were all his idea and yes, zebina as well, who came for free and played very well the whole year.

And what if he sticks to some of his players, is there anyone complaining about Emerson?

And does he only ask for his former players? whatabout Zlatan and Canna???

All in all, i find it really annoying when someone doesnt care about anything else just his/her own feelings to certain players or coaches. If we happen to do the treble this year without dp playing a second the whole season, i would be happy. Probably some people would rather complain about Don Fabio shouting too close to poor benchwarming DP's ears.

So... it took 65 pages but the "DP vrs Ibra" post finally arrive to transform this thread... :wallbang:
it's only one, and quite small element of my post. its much more about Capello, and the weird fact that someone can hate Capello so much that he hopes we play a boring 1:0 or even a draw. I also found it noticable that dp is injured and someone complains about his absence.

btw at least i read the first posts as well, and not only the very topic related "wo bist du" part at the end.

Thanks for the wake-up call Andy.

It's amazing how people are going all orgasmic over a 4-0 match against such mediocre opposition and proclaiming the Scudetto is ours. We've all watched enough football to know that is far from the case;at least I'd like to think so.

I agree! People who overreact with football results obviously dont know much about the game! Yes it nice to win 4-0 like we did on sunday, so we need to be focused always on to the next. Without dwelling on our results as we know how quickly things change in football.
Eg: last season when Milan lost 2 games in a row gave us a 8 point lead, then people (especially here) started saying ''Its over'' scuddetto is ours'' Not me though, then what happened? .....We lost to palermo and then Inter and the race was back on again. We need to stay focused at all times.

Well we should put up a brilliant performance against Empoli as shown in the 4 - 0 scoreline. But then how hard is it to defeat Empoli? Surely ur not going to cheer so wildly with 2 straight wins. We were juz lucky that we managed to get the slip away with the battle against easy teams. Our schedule is pretty tricky and we really had to be focused if we met up with tougher opponents. I really hope the 8-point lead case really taught Juve a lesson of complacency, not onlyfor the players, but to the fans as well.

i agree,
for me i dont think that winning by a huge margin is neccessary in evrey game. Since we have a huge schedule and we already have players getting injured then i think that we should win every match with the least effort possible.
The empoli game was ideal as we scored 3 goals back to back and then we just dectated play.Well i think that we will see how much the empoli game took from the players in the CL brugge game tonite.

On Sunday, September 11th, Juventus will play Serie A’s second matchday at Empoli. The line-up led by Mario Somma is virtually the same as last season’s, the squad who managed to finish their season in Serie B second-ranked and to gain Serie A after only one year in the lower league. Last year’s tested and successful 4-2-3-1 formation will be reinforced by two more important tiles, goalkeeper Berti and forward Serafini, respectively coming from Torino and Catania.

The talented striker Francesco Tavano, who’s expected to be one of this year’s revelations, is in charge of putting the ball into the net. The Tuscans’ aim is getting safe from relegation as soon as possible and Somma’s squad will certainly do their utmost on their home debut to achieve that aim and also to redeem from the 1-0 defeat against Udine on the first matchday.

As for Juventus, many of their players are returning from their International engagements, which gave boss Capello positive indications on the players’ conditions, particularly on the strikers, namely Ibrahimovic, Mutu and Zalayeta. Zlatan scored the third goal for Sweden in the match against Bulgaria, the Romanian gave his National team a double score against the Czech Republic and Marcelo gave Uruguay the win over Colombia scoring three goals.

Fabio Capello has met Empoli six times in his career and has won just as many times. On the contrary, his colleague Mario Somma, Empoli’s coach, has never met Juventus and there are no precedents between the two coaches either.

A perfect Juventus took Empoli by storm with three goals in six minutes’ time into the first half and got the four-of-a-kind in the second half time. A 4-0 resulting from a brilliant and concentrated play. Trezeguet scored a double goal which takes him to 99 goals wearing the black&white outfit, Camoranesi scored his second goal in the week after that for Italy, Vieira, after a fantastic performance, scored his first goal in the championship.
Capello’s side is in search of the three points from the very beginning of the match. Ibrahimovic and Trezeguet, helped by Nedved and Camoranesi, keep constant pressure on the Tuscan defence, Emerson and Vieira dominate in the midfield, the four-men defence formed by Pessotto, today’s captain, Cannavaro, Kovac, on his debut, and Zambrotta keep good guard of Abbiati’s net. The first goal for the Bianconeri comes on 11’ minutes: Vieira serves Ibrahimovic from the the midfield and the latter assists Trezeguet who puts it in with a powerful right-footed shot from the edge of the box (0-1). The score is doubled on 14’ minutes: a corner kick by Nedved is followed by Vieira who nods the ball in, scoring his first goal in Serie A with the Juventus oufit. On 16’ minutes, the 0-3 goal is signed by Camoranesi who, after his first goal for the International team, follows suit in the black&white outfit: starting from the midfield, he dribbles an opponent, moves forward and goes for a shot on goal which, deflected by Coda, ends in. Empoli’s reaction in the mid-half time brings forth only one attempt on goal by Almiron (23’) and Riganò’s header (29’), both missing the target. It’s hard to trouble such Juventus, who delight their supporters with classy play, like that on 28’ minutes resulting from the Nedved-Trezeguet-Ibrahimovic partnership and also the fantastic spurt of Vieira’s, who is eventually stopped by an opponent’s foul.
The second half starts with Balzaretti replacing Pessotto. Empoli get dangerous on 8’ minutes with Riganò but Juventus easily control the game. After 5 minutes, Ibrahimovic gets close to the fourth goal but Lodi clears the Swede’s header on the line. The four-of-a-kind for Juventus comes on 16’ minutes: Abbiati’s long kickout is received by Nedved who then serves Trezeguet and the latter’s volley beats Berti (0-4). The French striker, who is later replaced by Zalayeta due to a muscular problem to his right thigh, reaches 99 goals scored in the black&white outfit. In the last minutes of the match, Mutu, who substituted Ibrahimovic, Nedved and Zalayeta all look for the goal, while Abbiati puts up a good show with a beautiful clearance of Gasparetto’s attempt on goal.
