@Denco: Buffon broke up with Vincenza Calì... and looks like they weare having problems 4 a while... maybe that's why he doesn't look so concentrate and safe of himself like before :D
They broke up???

This is bad...to think that we let in 3 goals-against Empoli!! that should make Lippi eat his words:rolleyes: obviously we need some defensive help....our offense cannot carry us to the scudetto, although haven't we scored in every Series A game this year? but when you think that Roma and Milan have allowed 8 goals each, and we have allowed 21?? I just don't think that we will be able to win the scudetto, barring a major feck ups from Roma and Milan.....and I don't think it's like all of a sudden we will start doing really well-we will have good matches, but the instant we face a striker or something who is in form, who knows, maybe more hattricks against us?? It's pretty sad-how many did we conced last year? 29?? hell, we may have conceded that much three weeks from now:rolleyes:

This game showed that our defence sucks and with a defence like
this dont expect to win the scudetto although we have a strong offence
i was surprised by buffon -he was shaky and like a emateur player , also
juluano and montero are very slow , we will say this till the end of the season and lippi today defend his defenders today i dont know why.
Trezegue saved juve from embaresmant he was fantastic but i was also suprised by nedved form he was normal not like he used to play.

After seeing the highlights of the game and looking through the season , its gotten to a point where not just Juve should be alarmed but Italy as well

The Euro champs is round the corner and Buffon seems shell shocked as he is conceding goals left right and centre and he is even dropping balls as he is no more sure whats going on

No matter how much of a good goal keeper you are , if you keep on conceding like this then it starts to prey on your mind and you start to lose confidence

We have conceded 3 goals against Empoli whom I am not sure have scored 3 goals in a single match in any season talk less of this one alone, we conceded 2 against Siena and 1 was chucked off to nobody's comprehension

You listen to Moggi and Lippi and they come up with the rubbish that we are scoring so many, so its normal to concede so many as well so there is no need to rectify the problem

Can somebody explain to me how a team who has Zebina, Panucci and Delias in the defence can concede just 8 goals whilst we have conceded 21 in 18 matches?

Only the third goal against Empoli was class imo and even with that Conte did not do enuff to stop the cross and Iuliano and Montero were too slow to prevent Rocchi from scoring

The second goal was embarassing, nobody picked up Rocchi who just nodded the ball in

We do not have any divine right to beat anyone but for goodness sakes , you cannot be conceding goals to everybody all the time and at this rate our attack would have to score 100 to keep up

I cannot remember any time where we have beaten a team and not conceded at least a goal no matter how superior we are to them

At least, before, no matter how a defence is bad , when they come up against better opposition in their minds they defend better but we have conceded 3 at home to Inter, 2 at home to Roma, 2 away to Lazio and even though we battered Milan pillar to post, play wise we conceded a goal to them and it might have been 2.

For a team which is usually so professional in its approach as they do not have the class of players to beat the very best teams regularly, we are making a pig's ear of it this season
They are probably more interested in winning the Cl but with defending like this , it won't be easy
Dennis, I agree 100 % with you....

Empoli's last goal was good, but the first 2 would have been shut down by better defensive teams like Roma or Milan for example...

:( Don't speak ill of Buffon, just remember the mess he's gotten us out of in the past..on countless occasions too - admittedly he didn't play too well against Empoli, but he's human remember...

I dont agree, all goals were a result of poor defending
I've got to agree. The first goal, though brilliantly taken by Rocchi, was due to poor marking imo. The second one, again because of unprofessional marking. Two defenders went to Di Natale, while Zambrotta, Conte and Tacchinardi stood up protecting Buffon's goal from some invisible man or men. The third goal was brilliance on Rocchi's part, but Milan's defence would never have given him, or the crosser of the ball, that much space. I think that I can go as far as saying that our defence made Empoli's attack look even better than Empoli's attack made our defence look bad.

I have seen the goals and felt that our defense should have done better. In fact to be honest, this season I was SLIGHTLY disappointed with Buffon's performance as it is far from his best, and I was proved right against Empoli. However, this just might be due to the insecure feeling buffon has since our defense is unreliable anyway :groan:

I hope we'll work something out.

i concede that the second goal should have been prevented, but we shouldn't discredit empoli for their efforts.sure we weren't at our best where defending was concerned but empoli deserve more than to have their goals attributed to our poor defending.

don't get me wrong though, i do think we defended quite badly.but di natale was tricky and i think they(the juve players) were all stunned by the early goal.plus i'm sure the match was far from what they expected it to be(a thrashing, pherhaps?). empoli played like they knew they could and were not overawed by playing a much larger team.

i know these are not excuses for bad performances but neither should we blast them for goals that weren't entirely their fault.

i am pretty concerned about buffon though, his eccentricity seems to have returned to haunt him.he fumbled more than once during the match and i worry that he will slump into his early juve from again, just like when i started a "Don't Shoot Me" thread some time ago.

    Lippi: “Must reverse our trend”
    26 01 2004

    Marcello Lippi (La Presse)
The 3 goals against Empoli bring Juventus’ total to 41, but tonight’s draw focuses attention on the 21 goals received by Juventus so far. Lippi knows this and answers “Even though they haven’t influenced us so far, the 21 goals we’ve received are too many. This trend isn’t acceptable and must be reversed. Tonight’s first goal surprised us, but the second one just shouldn’t have happened. It’s not usual for a team like us who usually stays in the lead once we’re there. It wasn’t due to bad defense but to a general attitude. Now we must look ahead and hope we repeat our traditional comeback in the return leg of the championship. It will be a more balanced competition from now on, it’s become harder to win than it was just a little while ago. The smaller teams have improved.”

    -----------

You know, to be honest, I'm quite surprised that I find conte playing well. Are we really desperate till even CONTE had to play good for us? No offense to him, I love the guy, but this should tell us something.

Well, Maresca is injured and Appiah is out of form, so the only logical thing to do is to play Conte alongside Tacchinardi in midfield. Perhaps it does show a bit of desperation, but Antonio is doing very well so I don't really care.

Well, no matter how good Conte does a Tacchi - Conte central mid is dull, uncreative and not good enough offensively. IMO they should not feature together like they did against Empoli.
