And let's not forget how widely panned Moggi was for his first Mercato during that time. If I remember correctly, only 2 or 3, max out of the 11 or so players that he picked up ever amounted to anything.

The Juve teams after Platini, and only once Ravanelli, Baggio, and Vialli came on baord in the beginning of the 90's did juve start to get back to their winning ways again.

This stuff takes time. Trust me, I had absolutely no idea who tacchinardi was when they bought him in 1994, for example.

Though I have to say ... when I hear about Del Piero talk about using their anger after their 1-0 Bari loss, I have to ask, "Well it did a whole lot of good when the team was supposedly pissed off for the last half of last season."

Keep in mind that the Juventus squad that he inherited already had established, younger players such as Vialli, Ravanelli, a world beater in Baggio, and a precocious young teen by the name of Alessandro Del Piero.

So youcould easily surmise that Moggi happened to walk into a better situation that what Marotta is walking into right now. Although the teams of the early 90's weren't Top Notch CL Quality, they already had the buidling blocks in place, in a much different economic time when Juventus could "throw money at the problem"

I want to say one thing in regards of the comparison between 2010 and 1994. Well of course, we got happy that we got 3rd place right after Serie B and then we got 2nd the year after. Of course we got happy beating Real Madrid, beating Inter, beating Milan 4-2 (I will never ever forget this game) and whatever else we did since our return but all this happened by coincidence I think. I never expected us to do that well after returning from Serie B to the extent that the board and the fans got fooled. Back then right after our return we needed this mercato, we needed to build a core, depth and blue-collars (as Pado called them). We are four years late now and the result might even be more delayed but I am still having hope that it might get fruit. The biggest problem is that we should stop comparing ourselves to Milan and Inter.
