Ronaldo: Juve Cheated Inter In 1998

Milan star Ronaldo has spoken about the infamous Juventus-Inter title decider from 1998, and has praised the Bianconeri for cleaning themselves up.

This Sunday El Fenomeno faces Juventus for the first time in Serie A since his days at Inter Milan.

During his spell at the Nerazzurri there was the notorious 'Ronaldo incident’ from the 1997/98 season. With just four games remaining of the season, just one point separated the top-two Juventus and Inter, as they met at the Stadio Delle Alpi.

The Bianconeri were 1-0 up in the second-half, when Ronaldo was blatantly fouled by Mark Iuliano in the penalty area. The referee incredibly waved play-on, and indeed awarded a spot-kick down the other end just seconds later. Alessandro Del Piero missed it, but the Turin-giants held on to virtually guarantee themselves the Scudetto.

“It is a different Juventus compared to the one I knew, completely new and also clean,” Ronaldo told La Stampa.

“That game [in 1998] does anger me because it was obvious the desire of the referee was to make Juventus win.

“The truth however came out in the end but it is better to always forget about the past. I am happy that they have cleaned themselves up and I hope that situations like that of the past are not repeated ever again."

Trezeguet Tells Milan: Our Attack Is Better

David Trezeguet has turned up the heat ahead of this weekend’s big match at San Siro by declaring that Juventus have a better strikeforce than Milan.

The 30-year-old has been at his prolific best this season and is way ahead at the top of the Serie A scorers charts with 11 goals in just 13 games.

However Trezegol is not the only Juve striker in form as Vincenzo Iaquinta has hit the back of the net six times, Alessandro Del Piero has struck on five occasions, while Raffaele Palladino has also shone despite scoring just once.

This compares with Milan, of whom Alberto Gilardino is the only forward to have scored in Serie A this season, with five strikes to his name.

“Our attack is devastating and better than Milan – the numbers prove that,” Trezeguet told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We just keep getting better and we really showed our strength against Palermo. Morale is high and we are going to the San Siro to win.

“We know that we are a strong side, but this is the big moment with a direct battle. To win over Milan at the San Siro would be ideal.

“It’s important that we go out there with humility, but we know that we don’t have to fear anyone.”

I don't see why we can't play with three attackers. I'm saying this with all respect to Milan and without underestimating them, but they have been really bad at home. Plus Madonna is fitter than their defence! Ok kidding, but it is old. So playing with three attackers should be considered seriously by Ranieri.

Also playing with 3 in front makes it easier for both teams to score in theory. Juve can lose this game, no one will kill our players, its Milan away, it will be accepted. Milan on the other hand, a defeat will be nothing short of disaster. So if we score first it will stress their players even more... They won't know what hit them!

If Juve lose caues we play with 3 strikers, i assure you Ranieri will be insulted till we win by 4 goals once again

he should use the same attack as he did in the palermo game. let iaquinta start, and beat up and tire out those grandpas. then let a fresh dp come on and terrorise them with his skill. trust me, if dp starts, he won't be nearly as effective as if he comes on as a sub.

You know that tactic isn't going to work in every single game for the rest of the season right ?

Milan aren't Palermo . Nesta can stop any attacker in the world and Iaquinta isn't going to run circles around him like he did to Palermo's defense .

It's going to be a tough game and despite Milan's bad form , their players are simply at a different level .
