I think we never wanted to loan Pereira but because he was non-EU we had to send him to Empoli until January 31st, then we could re-call him. Might be wrong but it was something like that.

On 28 June 2016 Matheus was signed by Serie A club Empoli F.C..[7] It was reported that Matheus agreed a deal with Juventus in summer 2016. However, as the Turin based club ran out of non-EU registration quota for international transfer, he would be signed by Empoli from Corinthians first.[8]
