The obvious choice for Icardi is Real Madrid, but I doubt it will happen the same summer as Hazard, unless they sell not just Bale but also Benzema.
Icardi doesn't strike me as a Real type of signing. He's been scoring in Serie A but in Europe or on an international level he's been non-existent. Also he's got that favela vibe around him which doesn't suit Real neither. If it's not us then I'd say Chelsea is most likely, then Napoli.

Icardi is too good for Napoli, unless he runs out of options. I don't think he is an English football kind of striker. In terms of style he isn't the best choice for Madrid but there are few his age and stature who they would look at. If they get it right with Vinicius, Isco, Marco Asensio and the rest then they don't need a CR7 as a #9, they'll score goals and be attractive.

Also as already said, they have had a few scallies over the years - Benzema, Anelka, Pepe. Their captain is Sergio Ramos, who looks and acts as trash as you can get.

All valid points. However, I think they will go for Kane. After years of austerity policy they must have tons of cash.

Kane is clutch and expensive, also British players have suddenly become vogue for foreign clubs and open to move abroad, so they will definitely try. I just wonder whether the new Man Utd might sell Lukaku and try for him, and whether Kane as England captain would be prepared to move abroad.

I'll never understand how Icardi is/was worth all this fuss. He's a box striker that isn't even super clinical or something. A management with spine would have shipped him out years ago but they made him captain. A microcosm of Inter's problems.

So if you put a WC winger into CF position will he be a WC striker too if it's so easy to score goals?

Sorry I don't understand what you're referring to.
You have downplayed Icardi's importance to Inter's game because you don't consider a box striker an important part of any team which you have already expressed in other posts of yours. I got an impression that you think scoring goals is an easy task so I asked if you think that if we put a world class winger, like prime Robben for example, into Inter's CF position that Icardi has been occupying for last few years, would he score as many goals as Icardi?

Of course not.

But in my humble opinion, if you operate mostly as a box striker, you have to score goals that other strikers won't score. And you can't miss any easy chances (that is a very high standard, I concede that).

Icardi has scored some screamers but he also misses chances like every other striker (If you watch a Cancelo hype video from last year you will be surprised how many assists he could have had....). He's not outrageously clinical.

He is better than Immobile, Piatek, Zapata, Milik but the question is just how much better, really? These numbers I always see quoted for Icardi are crazy. I see $100M in some places.

I find strikers like Icardi have a thin margin for error in terms of being valuable. This is the opposite of strikers like Cavani and Mandzukic who are useful into their 30's. Like if you gave me $100M to spend on a team, would you immediately put it into a striker who needs service? It's illogical to me.
