There's more to the story with Mertens though.

From the very beginning him and his wife have never shut up about how much they loved Naples. I don't think it was a PR thing, they said it in Belgium too. To a neapolitan those things matter.

Apparently Mertens and his wife have been living seperately for a few months now and rumour is that there might have been an affair (which would be a tragedy as they're high school sweethearts).

Some journalists have also implied that his wife now no longer wants to live in Naples (presumably the city of his mistress) and is forcing them to move to another city. Some neapolitans appear to have taken this badly.

De Laurentiis can be a moron, but here he's playing his cards right. He can't prevent Mertens from leaving because of personal reasons, so he's trying to discredit him while inflating his love for Naples. If Mertens would decide to stay De Laurentiis can always claim that apparently he came to his senses and realized how much he loved the city.

So yeah, I think he may have gotten this one right.

Kim Jong-Un is a big fan of Serie A' - Italian senator reveals North Korean leader's love of Italian football

The politician has just returned from the East Asian country and says that the supreme leader is an avid follower of the Italian top flight

Italian senator Antonio Razzi has claimed that North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-Un is an avid follower of Serie A thanks to Kwang-Song Han's impact in Italy.

The 18-year-old forward became the first North Korean player to score in Serie A when he netted for Cagliari against Palermo in early April.

Razzi revealed that not only does Korea's leader follow the exploits of his country's young striker, but keeps an eye on the Italian league as a whole. In fact, Razzi believes that Serie A champions Juventus are so popular in North Korea that they would sell out the country's biggest stadium.

"Does he follow Italian football? Of course, he knows all about Series A and NBA basketball," Razzi told Gazetta dello Sport.

"If Juventus were playing in Pyongyang Stadium, which is huge, it would fill up."

Following Razzi's return from the East Asian country, he plans to meet with Cagliari's young North Korean and pass on his regards from the teenager's home country.

"What will I say to Han on Sunday?" Razzi replied.

"I'll give him compliments, he is considered a talent at the level of those in Europe."

http://www.football-italia.net/101719/cassano-‘pogba-balotelli-are-lucky’

cassano always was a controversial person and player. never consistent, but the potential was always there. he has some points in this interview, too:

“Three over-rated players? Pogba, James Rodriguez and Balotelli.

“Is Pogba really worth €120m? Not for me, no. Rodriguez €80m? No. If he’s worth that, how much would [Andres] Iniesta have been worth at his age?

“As for Balotelli, I wish the best for Mario and he’s doing pretty well in France but both he and Pogba have had great fortune in life: they’re managed by a very good agent, Mino Raiola.

“He’s given both of them incredible opportunities.
and there you have the delusion:

“The three strongest players? Messi is the best. Always. Then Iniesta. Then Xavi along with me. I’m still worth the podium now.”

I can swear this is the 7th or 8th time Cassano has stated that he has rejected Juve FOUR times :lol:

Best three players? Messi, Iniesta, Xavi.

The guy played in Real Madrid and with Ronaldo the brazilian and has experienced a few trainings with Zidane and many other world class players yet he chose all three Barcelona players, he's seriously fvcked up, not because of the type of players he chose but it's becoming obvious that he's lubricating his tits and showing Barcelona love for sometime now. Give him some threesome Barca cock or the entire squad gangbang, maybe this would calm him down and have less Barca orgasm.

He fails to recognize that you need more than just technical talent to succeed as a top football player.

To be fair to him many football fans too rate players solely based on their technical ability.

Impressive to see "fucking catanaccio" serie a be ahead of the greatest unforced defensive error league in the world
Serie A will get back to being great once they return to having strong defenses. This would elevate the general play of all teams. Too many piss poor defending at the moment
