Fifa president Sepp Blatter wants to make it easier for players to avoid a World Cup suspension.

Currently players only need to be shown two yellows in group or knock-out stage action to land a suspension and miss their team's next game.

However, with the likes of Ghana's Michael Essien missing out on his side's historic second round clash with Brazil, Blatter has called for change.

"In a competition like the World Cup it should perhaps be three yellow cards in the first round and three in the second," confessed Blatter.

"This is a wise suggestion and we will take it up."

Blatter added that any change in the rules would not affect this summer's tournament in Germany.
