Wasted so many chances... in ones he was unlucky and in the others the keeper did well..but shoyuld have scored.

Apart from that, it has to be said... his passes, specially in the 1st half..were fuking unreal.

He is a fail as an SS, and shoould not be finishing plays.. but his potential on the wings is there.

In this match he played like in 2012/2013 season when he was one of our most effective player.

MoM for me tonight. He did bad when it came to finishing but he created many attacks and even helped out defensively quite a few times.

Great match from him after so long.
He never was our most effective player. In 2012/13 he did well the first few months, but effective is really not the right word to describe him in my opinion. He mostly contributed when we were up 2-3 goals already, scoring "useless" goals.

Agreed.

His best days were at parma and the season before he went to parma. Since he came here, he has struggled a lot.

With 11 goals and 6 assists he contributed a lot for our Scudetto and overall success (he carried us in Coppa to semies and scored a couple of goals in CL as well, against Chelsea).

Useless goals argument is just :sergio:

He was great. He's not a striker but outside of the penalty box he's very good. So creative and a great passing foot.

Dortmund should sign him, he'd do well with Klopp in his philosophy.

No, is not about the numbers... but he never looked comfort in the games. Lots of wasted chances and struggled a lot to impose himself. Today he played much better than in any other game o that season. Yeh , trabzon were bad.. but still the dude seemed much more comfort playing without having to be with his back against a wall of defenders.

He was one of our best strikers the first 6 months or so, but I was mainly focusing on the word effective, which just didn't really fit to Giovinco. I believe he had some sort of mental lock keeping him from scoring and wasting chances until the game was practically over and the pressure was off.

And I do believe that a goal at score 0:0 is much more valuable to the team than one at score 2:0. It was perhaps wrong to say useless, but he rarely ever has scored important goals for us.

I think this game shows what Giovinco can bring this team. He has to be utilized inthe right way, play to his strengths, but then he can be a great asset to have, even though he ain't no Tevez.

When he gets the ball with a defender up his back, and has to take on the duel, he is so ineffective and does not do much, but when - like today - he get just a meter of space when recieving the ball, he manages to get away from the defender with his speed or can turn around in miliseconds and make that great pass. This is the way he played in Parma, and that's one of the things that made him succesfull there. Our overall gameplan depends a lot on the strikers recieving the ball already being under pressure from a defender (Tevez almost always has a man hanging on his back when turning with the ball, and Llorente is often marked - or even double marked - when whe play long balls for him), and with Giovinco we need to do things a little different, and let him find the space before giving him the ball. But he can bring something different, and i really think it could benefit us, especially in european games, where the opposition doesn't just park the bus.

I just hope he will have a few more of those really good games, and maybe get a ball or two in the net, because he seems to lack confidence in the decesive situations. His chip over the keeper was class, such a shame the defender did great to clear the ball at the line...
