Armando Izzo’s suspension for failing to report match fixing has been cancelled, so he can return for Genoa immediately.

The centre-back was given an 18-month ban in April for failing to report two fixes while at Avellino, for games against Modena and Reggina in 2013-14.

In May that was reduced to six months, and with time served taken into account he was eligible for an October return.

However, the appeals court has now overturned the ban and the prosecutor opted not to move for any appeal.

As a result the FIGC has annulled Izzo’s suspension, and he’s immediately eligible to play once again.

In practice, however, it’s unlikely he’ll return at the weekend given he hasn’t played for five months.
