In general, I think a significant part of what's going on is sectarian.

The attack last night, though, I am reserving judgement on.

Something similar could happen to Lennon at Pittodrie and it probably wouldn't be sectarian, so I'll give Hearts the benefit of the doubt for now.

ok as a Hearts fan i feel the need to speak about the happenings last night,i hope that imbecile that ran onto the pitch to assault Lennon is banned from all sporting venues for the rest of his life
What happened Lennon tonight was a discrace.
it was a disgrace, absolutely but let's be honest Celtic are hardly the most virtuous club in the world and have their own history with fans behaviour. at the end of the day though if someone is determioned enough to get on a pitch it only takes them 2 seconds, the club had a large police and security presence there last night and this docile cunt still managed it

Still, would have thought Hearts could be in a spot of bother about it; it's not like this is the first time something like this has happened at Tynecastle in recent years.
we ahve? when was this? the only incident i can think of is when Derek Riordan scored a penalty at Tynecastle, ignored the Hibs fans to his right and ran straight to the large stand and the Hearts fans where someone tried to lamp him

I think it is more to do with the fact that Lennon is an absolute cock. Martin O'Neill never had anything like this in Scotland.

Nobody ran about attacking Tommy Burns.
An Aberdeen fan was prosecuted for singing about the death of Tommy Burns. :lol2:

That was the incident I was referring to.

I'm not going to say Hearts as a club should be punished, but it wouldn't surprise me if the authorities took advantage of the situation to make of show of handing out a punishment.

ok so while we are on the subject of fan behaviour it might interest you to know that there was almost a riot in the Celtic end....i have been reliably informed that this started after Lothian and Borders police went in to make some arrests following the Celtic fans smashing up the pie stand and robbing it (for the second time this year) and the robbing of the bookmakers. hundreds of Celtic fans then surged looking for a fight with the police.

one policewoman was taken to hospital following this,as was one ball boy who was hit on the head with a coin from the Celtic end which then resulted in all the ball boys/girls being removed with 15 minutes to go for their own safety.

a full investigation into EVERY incident that happened last night would be welcomed by myself and i am hopeful that a documentation of the sectarian signing coming from the Celtic end is highlighted. Rangers have been hammered for the disgraceful songs of their support and i hope taht Celtic are too

(i got this from another board)
the roll call of songs from Celtic fans went as such-
1:44 – Ooh Ahh Up the RA

3:08 – Roll of Honour

6:03 – Off to join the IRA

10:04 – Ooh Ah Up the Ra

15:00 – Oh the wee huns are shite

38:45 – Get the Brits out now

44:00 – Oh ah Up the RA

53:00 - P, P, PIRA

55:00 – Never Defeat the IRA

58:00 – Jim Jeffries is a sad orange *******

59:00 - Oh the wee huns are shite

64:00 - IRA All the way, **** the Queen and the UDA

66:00 – Off to join the IRA

72:00 – Michael Fagan Shagged the Queen

73:00 – Go home ya huns

87:00 - oh the wee huns are shite

like i say,i fully expect my club to get fined for one idiots behaviour...i just hope taht the shocking behaviour of the Celtic fans is not allowed to be swept under the rug on this one

i have never felt such a venomous atmosphere at Tynecastle, not even in the 80's but i honestly don't think it's because Lennon is Catholic i think it is because he is a class-a wanker and his behaviour this season has made him villified to the extent that some idiots think it is ok to attempt to hurt him

But can't you see Celtic are the victims here?

Sounds like a pretty average Celtic game.

i just hope taht the shocking behaviour of the Celtic fans is not allowed to be swept under the rug on this one

this is what infuriates me,i sit in the old stand at Tynecastle and the only time i EVER hear and sectarian signing is when Rangers and Celtic come to town. this game was transmitted live over the world with these songs blaring out,it makes me ashamed to be catholic

Still I'm sure the stewards at Tynecastle were busy doing something vital, like telling someone to sit down, when the guy was leaping out of the stand to get at Lennon.

this was "category C" game (whatever that means) which means maximum security and police presence, since it happened right after Celtic scored i think it is possible they were more concerned about Hearts fans in the corner or Celtic fans spillin gonto the pitch

still the guy in that area should lose his job

There is just so much wrong with Scottish football, and that's without even speaking about what goes on on the pitch.

They need to punish the clubs and as severely as they can, maybe a whole season behind closed doors?

I mean it maybe worse now than it has been in the past, but sectarian chanting and violence has existed in scotland for a long time.

Until fans see that they are doing severe damage to their clubs it wont stop.

It will be interesting to see if Alex Salmond gets as involved as he did after the Old Firm, or does violence only occur in Glasgow?
Well said, it is not simply religion. Lennon does not help himself in the media and with his actions towards away fans. I'm not saying what happened is right, but that everyone just has to accept he is an absolute cock.
