Bozi, any word on the situation regarding Hearts players getting paid?

I'm assuming that Hearts' claim that it was a 'technical issue' was BS.

It has certainly prompted wild speculation up here as to how hard the credit crunch has hit Mad Vlad.
ok here goes.....

there was a technical issue last week that caused the players wages to get missed, the players were told about it and told they would try to resolve it ASAP. the Sun (a newspaper that has taken great pleasure in criticizing romanov at every opportunity)
was leaked the story and decided that it was not newsworthy.....step in the daily ranger..sorry-daily record who break the news and decide it is back page stuff.
before saturdays game berra came out and said that the players were well aware of the problem and that they will get paid double next week(this friday) but that won't stop the daily ranger(sorry force of habit) who report that hearts players would be allowed to walk away from the club at the end of the season if they are not paid.
again hearts come out and put it on their official website that there is no problem, it will not happen again and that they will be paid double on friday. on a side note the SPFA have said that there has been no complaints from the players and that there is NO ISSUE....but that won't stop the daily ranger....

you can see where this is going, basically the problem was administrative as UKIO have a habit of waiting till the last minute to push things through and this has come and bit them on the arse. seriously doubt romanov will allow this to happen again

on a side note though, romanovs plans to open a branch may be shelved due to the credit crunch. for any bank to operate they need to have adequate insurance and the backing of a bigger financial institute to commence trading, in the current climate NO banks are really willing to trade with each other in case they get sucked under, romanov may have to bide his time before bringing his own brand of man-management to the scottish banking system

Aberdeen is the answer. :agree:
mighty Heart of Midlothian are a better bet to break the duopoly

Berra quashes strike talk
Hearts players have no issue with payment delay
By Chris Burton Last updated: 24th September 2008

Hearts skipper Christophe Berra has dismissed reports that the Jambos players are set to go on strike.

Speculation had suggested that the squad were unhappy at the news that their wages are to be delayed until this Friday.

The SPL outfit had announced on Tuesday that the players will receive a double payment this week after a technical glitch prevented their usual salary from being processed last Friday.

However, Berra has moved to assure the club's supporters that the players remain fully committed to the cause and no discussions have taken place in regards to not playing their weekend fixture at Dundee United.

Spotlight
"I don't know where the story came from but nothing has been said by the players. We are total professionals, we train hard and we want to win every Saturday," the centre-half told the club's official website.

"We know that if we are successful as a team that can only be good for us as individuals in our career.

"We are often in the spotlight because we are Hearts, and like so many reports these are just not true.

"I don't know where the stories came from, but I tell you I'd love the paper to name their source as there are no quotes in the story.

"I can promise our supporters that we are totally committed to Hearts and this weekend's game."

i hope hearts can come out of this alright

Fair enough.

I'm not inclined to trust either the Glasgow gutter press or what Hearts' management says, so I'll just wait and see what happens.

oh i know that hearts have been less than clear in their dealings with the press, though it is understandable when the weedgie press constantly roll out stories that have little basis in reality. if there was a major problem with the players then the SPFA would have been all over the papers like paris hiltons vagine

But the players and the SPFA can only assume that Hearts are telling the truth at the moment and that there is no mjor problem.

Just have to wait until Friday to see if the wages are paid or not.

Hearts settle staff wages problem

Hearts say they have resolved their wages problem, and players and non-football staff will be paid on Friday.

The club blamed a "technical hitch" for the delay to payments which should have gone through last Friday.

"Payment has now been processed as planned and a similar situation is highly unlikely to arise again," said a statement on the Hearts website.

"The minor error that occurred has not affected the running of the club in any way, all staff are working as normal."

Backroom staff were expecting to receive their monthly salary on 24 September.

But, after being summoned to a meeting on Tuesday, they were informed that this would not be the case.

Now, after being processed the money should arrive in staff bank accounts on Friday as promised by the club.

On Wednesday club captain Christophe Berra reassured fans that the players had no intention of going on strike over the problem.

How the fuck did you manage to ship three to United?

They only scored against us because we gave them a stupid penalty.

if dundee united could play us every week they would win the title by a record margin!
since levein took over we have been absolutely dreadful up there, lets put it into perspective-in our last 17 games at tannadice we ahve lost only 4 games, pretty good record right?? wrong!! our last 3 games have been 4-1,4-1 and 3-0,men sent off and our worst performances of teh season have come in these games

right now they have hoodoo over us and my guess is it is all down to our ex-boss levein

This is interesting...Hearts players get paid weekly!!!

Most top clubs the size of Hearts would normally tend to pay their top earners in lump sums, in arrears, say every three, four months or so...paying the first team weekly or even monthly, would put a real strain on any major club, never mind Hearts.

It's simply easier to find lump sums every quarter rather than ensuring cash flow weekly, and this is the norm at most top flight clubs...does indeed sound like a simple short term technical/liquidity problem and nothing to worry about.
