Avoid Sony. My little bro had no end of hassle getting XP drivers for one of their laptops recently.

Tell your moms to hook it up...All these new laptops got kick ass hardware...but vista just slows the hell out it.... I am looking for a Sony with great kick and within the budget of 1k-1.5k...
