So what is this now, basically a push from Russia to see how much land they can grab, draw a new border up and pretend separatist states and pretend they all wanted to join Russia?

Nobody knows, not a single soul on planet earth knows, it's just inexplicable, ask Putin and he won't be able to explain what the fuck they are doing in Ukraine - to annex full region of donbass? what for? then what? They don't say shit even on russian television - "next chapter of special operation has begun"

This was always the goal from the start imo. And forcing naturality on Ukraine as a bonus.

NATO, Nazis, nukes etc were always diversions. They were just there to shift the focus from Russia imperialistic ambitions to a more "defensible" casus belli of combating foreign threats.

Perhaps the final push to ‘liberate’ the Donbas, if they succeed Putin would at least be able to claim his ‘victory’

The frontline is expected to be huge, with geographical issues for Ukraine. More flat terrain etc. I’m more pessimistic for Ukraines chances in this area, although they had far more time to prepare.

Donbass and Crimea has a lot of oil and gas in their ground. When they exploit it (they don't because they discovered it only 10/15 years ago Russia can lose their oil Monopoly in Europe. He want IT all.

There is a really good video on YouTube why donbass and Crimea are the most important regions to Capture. I think Putin wanted whole Ukraine as a bonus and thought they would surrender more easily.

Jesus Christ.
Russian state – "we should destroy Ukraine, they can't be no more Ukrainians".
Putin – "Ukraine is not a country, there are no Ukrainians"
Russian army – performs war crimes, killing civilans who are "too much Ukrainian"
Tuz – it's hard to tell what this all about, probably about gas

I don't see the contradiction. What do you mean?
They've always wanted the whole Ukraine. Not a buffer state, set of shit-covered wasteland a-la DNR, who needs this shit. The goal was and is to destroy Ukrainians as a people. You either Russian or dead.

They wanted to force Zelensky to give up and flee the country
Yeah, even likely. But if successful it just make whatever the goal is easier to achieve.
It's not like Ukrainians would just give up if he fled imo.

I think the initial assault on Kiev was a failed attempt at a surgical strike, it wasn't intended to occupy Kiev imo.

I don't argue that at all bro. I'm just thinking they are doing it piece by piece and it started at Crimea or even before that. All this things you mention are in my mind just incremental steps to achieve that.

I follow the news really really close. Not only the mainstream media I am reading at least about an hour a day about the war.

I know what Putin says and his plan is failling, but we can say Donbass and Crimea are the most important regions for Putin.
It is really really sad, because a lot of Russians on the fron (under 25) don't know Ukraine as part of the Sovjet-Union. So they think it is a seperate country but are pushed to the front of the war. Both sides will lose and are already losing a lot of people who don't want to fight this war (especially Ukraine ofcourse). I still hope someone close will kill Putin but everyone who disagrees with him seems to go out of the group. Look at Sergei Shogui (minister of defence) and another really high rated major who is in 'hospital' but he isn't even in Ukraine. It is one of his top advisors. So that situation seems not to be really realistic.

So bad the NAVO can't do anything without unleasing a WWIII.

I am sorry for you Kopanja and your citizens.

Occupying Kyiv did mean whole Ukraine would fall. We all know how wars work. Get the big cities and you won the countryside. On the other side he don't want to destroy Kyiv because the city as a historic site is far to important to completely demolish like they did with Mariupol.

Why? They thought that Zelensky will leave the country and that they will put Yanukovich back, they even announced it, that was the plan from the beginning. Russian intelligence GRU, the FSB, military intelligence for 100% misled Putin that in the east of Ukraine everyone is waiting for Russian troops to visit them.

Look at above to hold on the gas and oil monopoly to Europe in the future. Besides that he would've thought it were easy targets because there are some pro-russian minorities. Ofcourse he wanted it all but if that is not possible, it is the most logical to switch to these two regions. And don't even forget the geographical aspect.

Also: Heavy reports about possible chemical weapons in the next days around Mariupol. Azov got the last warning to leave the city says Russia.

Looking at the forces (amount and type) they committed to Kiev in the first days tells you they didn't plan to occupy it at that stage. Even an army private wouldn't attempt to occupy a city like Kiev in that manner, it's impossible.

It's was to achieve a very specific goal, maybe like RUS said to get to Zelensky or sabotage specific facilities or HQ's

It would be nice if some big NATO countries stopped shuffling their feet and sent us weapons. That's all we are asking, sell us guns, and we will do everything else. Europe won't need to worry about Russia anymore. Just give us the tools to do it. Russia is not a superpower, and it should be obvious now. It's an archaic suicidal sect that rejects the modern world but at the same time craves products of modernity – iPhones, Internet, etc. In this aspect, it has all the elements of fundamental Islamic extremists, except for Islam.

There is not much oil in Donbass and here's the map of gas pipelines that Russia uses to transit gas to europe through Ukraine, Russian doesn't need donbass for Oil and gas lol
