One of the conclusion of the war is that the West has been way to conservative with allowing Ukraine long-range weaponry or attacks on Russian soil. They overestimated their nuclear doctrine.

It’s a cheap shot from Biden’s administration allowing it now, they had almost 3 years to give permission, and even now the usage is probably limited.

And I just read that the usage of the missiles is limited to the Kursk region for now.

Ive been hearing in podcasts from analysts that there have been meetings between Russia and Ukraine to stop attacking energy infrastructure of both countries.

Basically the West helps Ukraine, but the help is restricted and limited, or things promised arrive very late. If I may use a boxing match as a metaphor, we ask them to survive a match with endless rounds while Ukraine has no mouth guard and one hand tied on their back, that while Russia already has a weight advantage.

Its now for further developments interesting to see if Trump sticks to his words and if Europe will decide their own strategy.

Merz (most likely our new chancellor come February next year) said this a while ago. Hope it isn't all just talk:

"...Merz instead want's a new, tougher approach to Putin. It has "clearly failed" in the last two and a half years to show Putin his limits. "The West can no longer accept that Russia indiscriminately bombs civilian targets in Ukraine."

The approach of the CDU leader: If the Kremlin ruler does not refrain from attacking the civilian population in Ukraine, Europe will lift the range restriction on weapons. Then Ukraine could also fire missiles deep into Russian territory.

Merz attacked Scholz, said He is "Personally responsible for the fact that Ukraine has to fight Putin with one hand behind it's back. This cannot continue." He demands that Scholz also changes his stance on the delivery of Taurus cruise missiles as part of such an ultimatum. "If Putin continues to stick to his war tactics, then Germany must deliver these weapons."

It’s by definition a unfair fight.

The hesitation should be directly related to Russia’s nuclear doctrine, and I think in your country it’s even worse with (how to call it?) something like generational trauma post-WW2 where aggressive options aren’t favourable in politics, but I think you could define this better than I can.

This is very much the case, yes. If possible - don't get involved in any war whatsoever, but I do have the feeling that in this specific case, most people, even politicians, have understood that Putin only understands one language and one language alone.

Just sucks Scholz didn't get the memo. Can't wait to see him go.

So sounds like the cable cut was conducted by a Chinese ship with a Russian captain. The videos of all the dumb North Korean kids getting geared up to go die on the front is pathetic. Seems like things are escalating again, going to be a long winter.

Again, the best way to deal with Russians is to give us more means to kill more of them. There is no other way. Russia is a cancer; you can't negotiate with it, you can't let it spread, all those escalation ladders are almost meaningless; at this stage, Russia understands only one thing – force, chemo.

EDIT: it's not particularly for you message @Bjerknes, more of the rant, sorry
