Zdenek Zeman launched his second spell in the Roma dugout with an entertaining 2-2 home draw against Catania. After twice going behind to goals from Marchese and Gomez, the Giallorossi responded with an Osvaldo overhead kick before Lopez rescued a point in injury time.
Roma then travelled to the San Siro to face Inter, and displayed their commitment to attacking football throughout the course of a 3-1 victory. Florenzi put the visitors in front after 15 minutes, only for Cassano to draw the hosts level just before the break. Osvaldo restored the lead midway through the second half, leaving Marquinho to make the points safe with a fine finish late on.
However, the Giallorossi were unable to build on their first success of the season, instead squandering a 2-0 lead as Bologna came back to clinch all three points in a frantic 18 final minutes at the Stadio Olimpico. The hosts looked to be home and dry when Florenzi and Lamela put them two goals to the good inside the opening 16 minutes. But Gilardino and Diamanti restored hope with two strikes in 60 seconds, before the former Fiorentina man pounced to snatch a remarkable victory at the death.
The authorities then handed Zeman’s men a 3-0 victory over Cagliari after the hosts failed to comply with orders to play the game behind closed doors.
But Roma continued to be hampered by a lack of consistency and drew their second successive game at home. This time it was Sampdoria who denied the Giallorossi all three points, with Munari capitalising on a Stekelenburg blunder to cancel out Totti’s opener.
