What in the world is happening to the European music scene?

I've watched the 2004 MTVE awards partly and got very disapointed.

Outcast, Usher, Morron5, Britney Spears, Eminem... list of winners was so heavily dominated by American performers. What happened to the European music industry? What happened to Euro Dance, European hard rock and heavy metal, European R&B and hip-hop performers?

I personally could tell no difference between these awards and American MTV Music Awards.

Very sad.
