REAL Madrid, stunned by AC Milan's "declaration of war" has sent a protest letter to the Italian club.

Real chairman Ramon Calderon has written to Milan counterpart Adriano Galliani to complain about recent attacks, perceived to have called into question the Spanish club's integrity.

Responding to an article published on Wednesday by Spanish sports daily Marca, alleging that Galliani's Milan has "declared war on Real Madrid" over the latter's attempts to lure Brazil star Kaka to the Bernabeu, Calderon said he reacted with "great surprise."

In his letter to Galliani, Calderon added the story, if true, comprises a "massive misunderstanding" between two clubs who have in the past maintained cordial relations, according to Real's website.

Calderon said he wants to see "as quickly as possible" a return to the usual "climate of cordiality which has always existed between the two clubs".

He added he had always had "the greatest respect for the glorious history of AC Milan".

Kaka said on Wednesday he intends to stay at the San Siro and Marca quoted Galliani as saying he had told the paper that if the playmaker does leave he will certainly not be allowed to join Real, adding that relations have hit a low point.

I don't hate any club except those two, and I hope they'll always fight over transfers in the next seasons...
