Losing both Bonucci and Alves hurt. Bonucci not so much, because I'm pretty happy with our CB options anyway. Alves hurt more because we haven't replaced him at all. The right-back position sticks out like a sore thumb. Licht is past it, and neither Howedes or Barzagli offer much going forward. I still have hope that MdS will turn out to be a success but I'm not holding my breath.
Everywhere else I think we did great. Berna, Costa, Howedes, Bentancur and Matuidi are all great buys. Berna and Costa give us creativity to break down defenses. Bentancur is a great prospect. Matuidi gives us athleticism in midfield (with actual footballing ability, unlike Sturaro). Howedes adds great depth in defense and can play as fullback too if necessary.
