So I was making dinner. I was checking on the food which I thought needed to be browned a little more. So I added an additional 5 minutes on the timer. I walk back to my book to continue reading and all of a sudden I heard a "boom" sound. I turned to look at the oven/stove and it no longer is working. Does that mean a fuse blew? Or something more serious? Because I don't want to call my roommate about it since I'm his new roommate so I don't need him hating me already. Everything else in the kitchen works just not the oven. So if its just a fuse, I can go look for a fuse box or something.

Hopefully one of you males knows something about this.

Go find your fuse box and either replace the fuse or flip the switch from off the on.
Does anything happen if I switch the wrong one off and on.... because one is called Kit. Plugs and two are called Range. So I'm not sure which one it is.

It should be the only one off. Oh I take it that it's a fuse system. It's range. And the fuse should be broken or dark.

Well I went to the fuse box and turned the two for range back on (they were connected) but when I came back to the kitchen, it was still off. So does that mean it wasn't the fuse?

Figured out with my neighbor. Thanks.
Did I see that scene in a porn movie?

Floozy: "Excuse me, Jake, but my little old oven went out."

Jake: "Need help lighting the pilot?"

    Floozy: "It's electric ... I'm afraid I may have blown a fuse."

Jake: "I think I may have just the right tool in my tool belt."

Cue the music: wakka wakka wakka...

No matter how loud the BOOM was, it's not a fuse. The fuse directs current through the appliance, and normally would only flip in a box if it was a whole circuit (probably two circuits for the kitchen, one for everything else, and one for the stove if it's electric since it doesn't run on the normal 110 volt system, it should run on a 220 volt) that was out. If it was a smaller fuse that blew it would also only be the appliance that was out, but there would be no boom.

With the sound coming into play, I would look for a blown AC/DC converter if it is electric or a blown coil. Coils sometimes will snap and disconnect from the interior circuit which actually causes them to work. If that happened, it would sound like a loud snap and a DOOOOOINGINGING sound like you dropped a Tuning Fork on the ground. If it's gas, I'm not sure, but I doubt it's gas. But in the case that it is gas, call a professional, also call someone for the electric one or make sure you cut the power to it before you start poking a damn screwdriver around in there.

Also, if it's gas, DON'T GO TO SLEEP BEFORE THE MOTHER FUCKER IS TURNED OFF.

Not the oven, but turn off the gas cut-off valve. The last thing you want to happen is what happened to Ed Norton's apartment in Fight Club.

    Especially with you in it.

And from the information provided, it sounds as if there was nothing you did wrong. Tell your roomie, he should A) know and B) not be pissed. Simple accident.

If only you were here when I needed you. Unfortunately I am now without an oven and a stove for a day or two.
