Pessotto rushed to hospital Tuesday 27 June, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gianluca Pessotto, the new Juventus team manager, is fighting for his life after a freak accident in Turin this morning.

Reports suggest that the former defender, who only retired from the game this summer, fell from a second floor window at the club’s headquarters in Corso Galileo Ferraris.

Pessotto has been rushed to the Molinette hospital with what, at this stage, seem to be serious injuries.

The former Torino player was only appointed as team manager this month after Alessio Secco was promoted to sporting director.

The news has also reached the Italian national team camp in Germany today.

Captain Fabio Cannavaro, a teammate and friend, left a media conference this morning when told of the incident.

Good luck to him on his recovery.

BTW, quit posting rumors about someone's health. Saying he tried to commit suicide without any source is uncalled for. I don't appreciate it and I'm not even a Juventus supporter. Plus, why would someone try to commit suicide by jumping off of a second story window?:disagree: They would jump from much higher than that.

Former Juve star Pessotto in serious condition after fall

ROME, June 27 (Reuters) - Former Juventus player Gianluca Pessotto was in a serious condition after falling from a window at the club's headquarters, the Juventus press office said on Tuesday.

Pessotto, who took up the post of Juventus's sports director at the end of last season after 11 years with the team, was taken to hospital in Turin.

The defender, who made 22 appearances for Italy, was a regular starter during one of the most successful periods in Juventus's history, winning six Serie A titles and the 1996 Champions League.

Italy captain and Juventus defender Fabio Cannavaro walked out of a news conference at the Azzurri's World Cup training camp when he heard the news of Pessotto's fall.

the police said he fell from the roof but not the window on the 2nd floor, and thats 10metres highfrom the ground. and when he was found, there was a rose in his hand.
in an interview, one of his friend claimed that he was suffered some physical problem that desperate him for a while

that could be a suicide incident, imo

This is horrendous news. I can hardly comprehend Pessotto not in the team, much less in a hospital ward fighting the battle of his life.

Get well soon Il Professore. :sob:

I don't buy that it was a suicide attempt. When you decide to commit suicide you don't jump from the 2nd floor. You do it properly, not with that much chance of survival. I hope he gets well soon and I hope it was an accident.
