Dybala is a special player, how special he truly is will be determined further more in coming years. Its nothing complicated, he needs to add some killer instinct consistency and some experience in the absolute biggiest games, after that who knows how far he will reach. He is already one of the absolute best players in the game. After he gets used to the higher requirements of big CL games (still a novice there, he was kinda overwhelmed vs Bayern, tho he schooled City without scoring, just toyed with them), get used to the pressure of facing the best, with some time he ougta become a monster like few right now.
People have fickle minds, yes he should scored those 2 chances, he knows it himself, and he tends to sky some chances when vollying in front of goal in one too many occasions (suspect focus/anticpiation, who knows), but it generally also comes off as looking for things to critique. Because there are seriously nothing to doubt about his talent/capabilities, if so it only means you forget too easily what a sick season he had last season, this one has been hampered by injury, playing with a new partner (Mandzu fit him like a glove) he isnt in sync with yet at all, will take time. But more importantly he is essentially playing in a new role then last season, he is virtually a trequartista per Allegri's orders (when he was main CF last, Mandzu was just running around doing the grunt work for most of it), and if that wasnt enough he is playing even deeper than that role usually does because of our more predictable and weaker midfield this season (besides injury and Higauin carrying the load, he has scored little this season simply because he isnt close enough...).
He fills the role of bringing up the ball and playmaking further down due to lacking someone who can hold up possession and demand attention from opponents as Pogba used to. He excells in this aspect but he is still someone who needs to get warmed to get going and at times decision making gets rushed by pressure to constantly perform/fit in with team components thats not all that used to eachother yet. Tho he should relax more because clearly Higauin and Pjanic showed they are match winners so he doesnt need to do all the decisive plays/finishes as he used to last season, was virtually our saviour.
But mainly its about being kind of out sync and not getting in gear yet due to the nearly 2 months long injury.
With not that dominating of a season, he still being dazzling the fuck out of opponents with such ease its bizzare. IMO the spring will be his domain for sure if he doesnt get injured, he has alot to make up for and should have plenty of energy to do it, except more of this but with more direct end product:
The solution to everything is he needs to get used to Higauin more and MUST play closer to goal then he does, even if he is key with how deep he starts plays.
