Maaaan, it's useless to say how I am dissapointed with Italy performance in tonight's game. From the things I saw Donadoni need to make some radical changes. Buffon was Buffon, he saved what he could and that's it. Whole defense was weak and Materazzi was worst, he was out of position on few occasions and his "speed" is useless, Barzagli actually wasn't that bad but he can be thankful to Materazzi on that. In midfield I think it's time to drop Ambrosini and Gatusso for once, De Rossi and Aquilani could be better options, or even put Camoranesi in the centre and in attack Italy still must play Toni and Del Piero.

Game itself was good. Holland was simply better and that's it. The first goal was 100% offside but still that doesn't mean anything. Holland were better team and they deserved to be a winners, they used their chances and were all over the pitch unlike Italy.

P.S. please stop bashing Toni, he did as much as he coul althugh he missed one 100% chance but still he was better than many other players and doesn't deserve to be bashed.

Somehow I'm pretty sure Donadoni will stick to his formation and will keep both Chiellini and Del Piero on the bench.

For real, must have been a completely different match. Ambrosini and Gatusso are the two most responsible for the loss. All those two had to accomplish was to stop up the middle of the pitch and allow Pirlo the freedom to create off of their tackles. That's what they are known for and it's supposed to be their bread and butter.

Simply all they had to do was defend and they could not. People can blame Barzagli and Matrix all they want (not saying they were any better), but it's a little difficult to defend with class when Gio Van Brankhorst is cruising through your midfield as he pleases.

I think Italy were totally our of form except for some individual attempts that might have helped them looked decent in the last 20 minutes. But Team play was ZERO! You dont expect scoring when the whole lineup is wrong from the start..

I think it will be very tough playing the coming 2 games as you will see more roughness from the frustrated italians..

the problem is that Italy are always slow starters in big competitions...and in this group you can't really afford that...I don't Donadoni was wrong with this lineup, he has used the sa,e formation and players as his starters for quite some time now, so to change it at this time would be illogical...

Trez gets a few seconds of ball time a match. He scores, we celebrate. He flubs, he gets flamed.

Toni had more than enough touches and did little with them. The best was towards the end when he toe-kicked back an assist with his back to the goal. But can you think of one decent save he actually forced out of van der Sar the entire match?

For real for real dude... Theres this through pass that came up for RVN that Buffon saved with his leg. I couldnt believe the pace at which Materazzi was chasing the ball as it passed in front of him!!

And how did Grosso miss tht?! Anything off the ground would have been in! Anyway, shit happens

I got this from the guardian minute-by-minute. Apparently Panucci didn't get the referee's permission to leave the pitch. But it's still a questionable decision since he was injured.
