Marotta left in October of 2018. September 2018 he renewed a 31 year old Khedira at 6m euros for 3+1 optional year. Khedira had no leverage so no idea why he was kept at the same salary and given such a long extension.
The only full mercato we had without Marrota was last summer and our hands were tied by Higuain and Khedira finances. Also when did we ever have offers for those 3?
Unlike you, I'm not attributing certain deals to one person. Marotta was part of Juve in 2018, but so were Paratici and Nedved. Do you think he could have extended Khedira on his own? We picked up Matuidis option last season instead of letting his contract run out, resulting in a (small) loss for us. We extended Bonucci and Rugani, what leverage did those 2 have? They are currently way overpaid and very hard to get rid off. These things happened with Marotta gone, so what's the excuse there?
Khedira and Matuidi could have been sold for pocket change and we would have avoided losses on both, back when they still were useful and held value. We stuck with them and had to sell others instead, others that would still be holding value today and would have been way easier to sell than those 2. Can most notably. Higuain was a terrible deal from the start, then we 'got rid' of him in a terrible manner as well (taking back Bonucci, giving away Caldara, failing to make it permanent), and again 6 months later failing to make it permanent when his daddy sarri brought him to Chelsea.
So yeah, we are in a pretty bad situation thanks to our policy, but if you try to blame Marotta for all that, you haven't been paying attention to what we're doing

+ Danilo and scrambling to get rid of Mandzukic.
We made a loss on Mandzukic same way as we did with Matuidi iirc? He was on small wages and his book value wasn't that high, could have easily sold him last summer if we didn't want him anymore. Or keep him for rotation. But no, let's release him 3 months into the season instead because our stand in retarded coach doesent like him
