Özil just signed an extension to become the 2nd highest paid player in PL - £305,000-a-week. What on earth are the Gunners smoking..

- - - Updated - - -

So Sane is out up to 6 weeks and Man City are about to sign Mahrez for 60m.

Pep really is a checkbook manager.
Nah, money just grows on the tree in [football] England.

He was previously on 140k gbp a week or 8.30m euros per year, which was net. it's a shitty raise if he gets 305k a week gross and he's definitely not the 2nd best paid player in EPL then
If Pogba is the 2nd highest at 290.000 a week, then Özil will be the 2nd highest with the rumoured contract extension. The numbers are from Daily Mail, and to my knowledge British media report salaries gross ('cause that what makes most sense from an economic pow) - any countries besides Italy that report net?

Yeah, it's gross.

ok, so the biggest EPL earners are not that far away from biggest Serie A earners, Bonucci and Higuain would fit right between Lukaku and Aguero if my calculations are right. always thought all those figures are net, but turns out Serie A isn't as poor as I'd like to think

Arsenal is shit cunthole.

I like how they always play mediocre players and don't place for Champions League spots last year.
Xhaka 45m
Iwobi as starter
Ozil and Mkhitaryan as their topplayers, but there are no more inconsistent players than them
Sanchez leaves because of mediocrity
Even Lacazette flops
Cech yesterday :lol: ->

Well, i'd say we are a bit far off when you compare it to United/Citty/Chelsea just to begin with, IMO all the sums speculated are in british pounds(sterlings) which is at a higher rate than euro, after which ofc is well known that we have the highest wage bill in Italy and own two of the highest paid players of the league in Dybala+Higuain but other than them most of our first team regulars have normal/low wages comparing to first team regulars in top premier league sides. Tho, the biggest issue would be the number of mediocre players in that league that are on 'superstar' wages, players who wouldn't even earn half of what they earn now if they were playing in any of Italy/Germany/France/Spain(excluding Barca/Real ofc)...

Anyway, i personally think that in terms of wages italian league is just fine as it is, no need to reach the inflated levels of the premier league.

3 years ago a friend of mine paid an Arsenal-membership on my name/email to mock me and now I still get the newsletter.

Everytime I check my mails in a full train or in the office, i hope nobody sees those newsletters from Arsenal. It'd be more embarassing than get caught checking @Kyle's visitor message wall.

They do have talented players. It's just that all those players are looking bad under a washed up manager.
