[=Cacìni]Wether or not it is original I care little about. I am not here to make cheap shots, but to speak of something of something greatly fascinating and interesting in italian football. That is all. If it happens to double cross some old tire tracks, shame, but what do you want me to do? Scrap my ideas because someone has mentioned you have a low attendence average previously?
See, if you hadn't treated my post as the usual rant, you'd see how I adress precisely that subject. You could argue that, I guess, but it carries little credability with it for a number of reasons. Firstly we have to wonder, what makes a city 'football mad', as opposed to others? What distinguishes it? I find it hard to believe a city with population numbers surpassing the million has no interest in football whatsoever. But this is just speculation, or rather questions I raise in response to clarify the realms of the discussion.
My real argument is this:
97-98 - 47347
98-99 - 47164
99-00 - 42229
00-01 - 41273
01-02 - 40687
02-03 - 39771
03-04 - 34365
04-05 - 26145 (this season thus far)
As is clearly demonstrated by the numbers above, Torino apperantly was a 'football mad' city just the odd couple o'years ago. In the end of the 90's, you had nearly the double of what you have now. How can this be interpreted to be anything but a (for Juventus) deeply disturbing trend?
Sure, I guess you could argue til the cows come home that those odd 23000 people extra in the stands all moved out of town since 1999, there is no way for me to contradict that with anything other than common sense. But I, personally, cannot interpret the numbers as anything less than a decleration that the public is fed up with Moggi and Giraudo. They're tired of the doping - yes, yes, only the poor ol' Doc Agricola is guilty in the eyes if the law - but don't think for a second people don't see through that farce. People
KNOW the management was well aware of what was going on, the players even testified to taking drugs in half time certain games (Zidane). So even if Juventus goes free in the eyes of the law (or drew at home, as they so arrogantly and nonchanlantly called it

), the club has been sentenced. Not by opposing fans alone - even by your own fans in Italy. The numbers of attendence tells it all. There is NO other reason or aliby with which you can explain such a dramatic loss in attendence in such a short period of time. As I said earlier, Delle Alpi is in the same location it was when you had an average closing in on 50000, the team is just as succesfull as it was back then. No, it is a sentence by the public on the ways of the triade, and the dispicable way in which they conduct their business. I'm not saying this to start some kind of war of words, in fact I am utterly surprised you're not seeing this for what it is. It's all in front of you.
If you think that's helping your case, think again. Juventus will go down in history as the first great, big team no one was willing to pay to go see. Another milestone in the cabinet.
No need to strecth as far as pre-Moggi. I dug out the numbers of the last 6 years for you, and they are sufficiant to see the incrdible drop in figures as time progresses and the public becomes aware of what it is Moggi and the club has done to cheat their way to titles, risk players's health and lives etc etc.
It really is a shame if you think I would spend this much time just because I am jealous. I believe what I have stated here to be true, and I should only hope you're not blind enough to disregard from all of just because I don't happen to support Juventus. You don't have to agree, but at least don't rule it out without thinking it over properly.
