Actually that reminds me of a guy in my group a few months ago. He was really good at software architecture, solved all our major problems, but not so strong at the keyboard. Completely married to the spell checker, his slides were free of typos, though the sentences didn't make much sense.

So what are we doing these days, Paul? Still working for the BBC? I must say I found a report covering how the Yids were saints in Seville to be rather humorous, as well as some of the reports blasting the Roman police for beating down those Manure fans. I'm no safety expert and certainly wasn't there to see what they were doing for real... but neither were the BBC reporters.

One things for sure, those Romans sure know how to give a good baton beating..
The BBC is a good news institution though... always try to watch it whenever they have it on within the hick channels of this country, which isn't frequently.

Why was it that as we neared the stadium masked cowards were running past stabbing people who hadnt even had a chance to do anything...
Why was it that as manu fans turned up half the turnstiles were closed and the police walked past forcing people to funnel through by hitting them about the legs with batons as they gleefully told the "utd scum" they were gonna suffer tonight.
How is that the police closed off several sections of the utd area... meaning that everyone was sitting on top of each other even though there were plenty of seats available.
How is that police broke every uefa reg going by only policing one set of fans and encouraging the roma fans to provoke them.
How is it that the police allowed seats, flares and numerous other missiles to be launched at the manu fans without a word said... How is it that the police found it amusing for oranges containing razor blades to rain down on manu fans... yet the moment a single chair was thrown back 'justice' was swiftly and brutally dealt out.
How is it that even though the manu fans who were stupid enough to react were brutally beaten even though the most they could do was scream and make faces at the roma fans... there was no way of actually getting at them.
How is it that manu security personnel trying to talk to the police were beaten.
How is it that any trained officer needs to hit someone as many as 17 times after they are on the floor.
How is it that a 70ish year old man who didnt even move from his seat was deemed enough of a threat to recieve a baton round the back of his skull.
How is that a scared 8 year old boy standing still crying his eyes out deserved a baton to his ribs
How is it that the leader of these riot police in the middle of it was on the verge of tears shouting.... stop... stop... stop... to his men
How is it that if its all the bad manu fans fault... after being held back for around 2 hours we leave the stadium to see roma fans and the police going at it in the streets
I could go on all night... but i wont.
I'm not saying manu did no wrong... some of them did... but roma fans did much worse and the policing is some of the worst i have ever seen anywhere in the world... The police were there for a fight from minute one and roma fans set it up for them... Some manu fans were stupid enough to walk into it.
and andy... anyone that has ever witnessed first hand the way italian riot police behave at football matches... will recognise everything i say.
They arent there to police they are there to swing batons...

As for tottenham, i have no idea, i know the ground and policing/stewarding didnt meet code, but i have a feeling that certain fans felt that with what happended in rome they could push it... I may be wrong there... I have no idea.

I never thought it was all Manure's fault as it takes two to tango... and besides I'm sure there are Roma supporters within the ranks of the Roman police, so something like this isn't really surprising.
That's a pretty interesting account. Watching the footage of the events leading up to the beatings though both sets of supporters were launching missiles and other things around the stands. But yeah I thought it was strange that the only police you could find were located on the Manure side of the fencing while the Romans had free reign throwing whatever they wanted. Personally I thought there was more to the story than mere police brutallity but its quite interesting getting a first hand account on these matters. I suppose it just goes to show stadium violence in Italy is not solved very easily... but we knew it was here to stay..
I can't wait to finally make the trip over for a few matches after I graduate... that will surely be quite an experiance. An American amongst the Ultras of Italy... surely I'll receive a warm welcome..

Just got back myself from a brief Easter weekend up in Napa at my mother in law's. Man, it was gorgeous out there today. And the bottle of Nickel & Nickel didn't hurt either.
Oh, and "Inter merda!"
Actually, on a more serious note, I was watching the fans after the Roma-ManU match and couldn't help but notice the few fans with "Lazio merda" banners. Talk about fans who looked like they were completely attending the wrong event.
It's a mirror for how idiotic Juve fans look when they pull similar tactics.
