Oh I'm not King of the country. I'm King of the people. Subtle but importance difference. It indicates a popular monarchy linked to the people of Belgium, whereas the former would indicate standard constitutional or absolute monarchy linked to territory and a state. The Latin translation of "King of Belgium" would have been Rex Belgium, which (from 1815) was the name for the King of the Netherlands (for historical reasons). Therefore the Belgian separatists had to choose a Rex Belgarum. King of the Belgians.

Still awake?

In order to be king of the people, they must first have a country...

Not Belgian without Belgium, niet Nederlands zonder Nederland, ja?
No that's not true. There have been countless oppressed people and Kings and Queens in exile. You don't need a country to be King, just a people.

And yes, I'm awake.

I like to watch the sun rise, it's one innocent thing in a world of guilt.
Hm.

Yes, I'm a basketball fan. Or at least was, haven't played in years. Haven't watched any NBA since they canceled it on tv either, so I'm entirely out of the loop, but in junior high I was really into it.

And the And1 tapes are great :)

I would oppose to that, but I am Belgian after all so I'll just let it slide.

Belgian separatists doesn't sound too great, no. I find King of the Belgians rather cool though. Makes us sound like some sort of cave people.
