Someone mentioned about closing the financial gap with other clubs. I don't quite understand how changing the logo helps us achieve that outside of a short term surge in publicity.

Merchandising and co-branding to start with. Like someone else mentioned hopefully the quality of products become better. The current non sportswear gear is horrible.
Well didn't everton recently change their logo only to revert it back to the old one?

Still hope :D
Thankfully we are not Everton.

It's a step. Changing logo might go a long way towards achieving their objective who knows? Besides It's more than just a logo change. I see it more as a gateway towards a larger business expansion which will only be realized in the long term.

What Man United are today is because they started this whole culture of football branding in the 90s. Look how big and popular they are today.

Actually I hope we can use both. It would be like having two wifes. The modern young one, ugly but rich as fuck and older hot looking one whose poor.
One logo for everything. The objective being that it should become a universally recognised symbol in sport.

It's an ugly logo, and I sincerely hope we aren't considering discarding the original club crest for our official jerseys and such. It took them a full year to come up with that piece of shit? :howler: Someone is really milking it at the Creativity, Marketing, and R&D departments.

What if the long-term scheme is to primarily become a lifestyle-services-fashion-whatever brand that happens to have a football department, with the money flowing out of the latter into the former and not the other way around? Because, knowing the Elkanns, that's my concern. The question is whether purpose and means have switched positions.
One is dependent by the other..

I think what they try to do is make this a Yankees type of logo.. So people who don't give a Shit about football buy it aswell.. If that works out: why not..

More money is always a good thing.. Though I'm going to miss the old logo

All of a sudden it makes so much more sense. I still don't like it but I'm not stumped over it anymore.

Well, you went through your own rebranding some time in the past, didn't you?
Everyone instantly recognizes the V, but most don't even remember what it stands for anymore.

so what are the other big J names we have to compete with? Jews, Jesus, Jackass, Japan, Jizz, Jazz, Jersey.. Japan, Jizz and Jersey are doable, but I'm not sure we'll ever outrun Jews. Juventus and Jesus market opportunity is surely something we have to look in

In some movie somebody said about the NFL smth like: "They fuckin own a day of the week, son!".

Maybe some day someone will say about us: "They own a fuckin letter of the alphabet, bitch, don't fuck with them!"
