yes, thats right, Im doing a presentation on Friday in my Italian class on the culture of calcio in Italy.

Im just looking for some good ideas/structure for my presentation. I was thining of just starting up, saying how its the most popular sport, then explaining the different in divisions, like who plays in serie A compared to B, then briefly going into details on all the current Serie A teams, what region they are from, etc.

Then I feel I might go into explain the table from this year, let them know that the season is over, when it starts, ends, etc. Say who goes to CL, uefa cup etc.

Maybe go over the 3 different competitions, which teams played in what.

Then just going off about Juve, and their championship.
Some more history of the club.

Granted, all of this is gonna be written up in Italian.

if you have any ideas of items I missed that should be in this, this presentation on the culture of soccer in italy, let me know please. ANY IDEAS ARE GREAT.

I might also speak of the Azzurri.

THANKS!

All I can say is, don't use too much jargon. People aren't going to be able to keep track of/care about what the heck the UEFA Cup or the Intertoto Cup is.

I wouldn't even bother talking about anything other than Serie A actually.

Personally I think the most interesting aspects of calcio are the fan culture, rivalries and legendary players.

Yeah I agree with Graham. Not many of our compatriots are going to know what the heck the UEFA Cup is, so don't even spend time on that. If I was doing it I would stupify the thing to a kindergartner level cuz I doubt your professor and students are going to know anything at all about calcio. I would tell them about the teams, the structure of the leagues, and the best teams ever in Italy. Should be an interesting presentation to say the least....good luck.

By the way, do you have any friends over there who know anything about Serie A?

thanks gray. that does make sense. ur right, talking about uefa cup is bullsh1t.

fan culture, how intense they can be is interesting for sure.
by rivalries, you mean like juve vs milan, inter vs milan, roma vs lazio, that kind of deal?
and legendary players, ya i guess so.

then i can go into the azzurri.
after i briefly touch base on the current serie A teams, regions they represent, and maybe a bit on juves season, how their my favorite team, why, etc.

The most important thing, is to simple describe the important of calcio in Italy, I am guessing your American, and it will be to an American class, try describing the important of a team to its fan is, legendary Liverpool manager said it best "Football isnt about life and death...its more important then that". How that alot of people worship these football clubs like a "religion", and the players as if they were gods, that it is sometimes the most important thing in people's lives to win, especially if it was against there most hated rivals.
