Mourinho admits Nedved fancy
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has admitted he would love to sign Juventus star Pavel Nedved.
The Czech Republic midfielder is much admired by the Blues boss, who has confirmed his intention to bring Bayern Munich skipper Michael Ballack to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Quite where Nedved would fit into the star-studded Chelsea line-up is another matter but Mourinho feels his ambitions will be thwarted by the 33-year-old's desire to remain with Juventus.
"I know Czech players and I know they are of high quality," he told Sport.
"I have been watching Pavel Nedved for a long time.
"Despite his age, he is still one of the best players in the world.
"He has a great talent.
"But Nedved doesn't want to play for Chelsea. I think he wants to finish his career at Juventus."
Speaking about the two Czechs on his books, Petr Cech and Jiri Jarosik, Mourinho was honest in his appraisal of the duo.
"What do I think of Cech?" he asked. "It is simple.
"He is in my team and that says everything. I am really glad to have Petr in Chelsea. He is a high quality goalkeeper and, moreover, he is still very young and can improve.
"I don't think Jarosik will return [from his loan spell at Birmingham]. He has the ambition to play regularly, therefore I think he is much happier at Birmingham.
"He plays there every week, which certainly would not happen in Chelsea.
"And he is not the only player who prefers playing in a starting line-up to the uncertainty at Chelsea. Alexei Smertin, Mateja Kezman, Tiago - all these are great players but they have left because they wanted to play regularly.
"Jiri Jarosik is a good lad and a great footballer but he makes good now he plays in Birmingham."
